Responsibilities
• Respond to Expert Inquiry / support tickets that require deep engineering expertise, ensuring high‑quality, well‑explained resolutions rather than “black‑box” fixes. • Expert Inquiry / support tickets • Design and review architectures across compute, networking, storage, IAM, and observability. • Consult how to build IaC‑based deployments (e.g., Terraform, Cloudformation) and advise on CI/CD integration. • Help customers adopt containerization and orchestration or serverless solutions (e.g., Kubernetes, managed K8s, serverless platforms). • Customer‑Facing Delivery • Serve as the primary technical delivery partner to customers, with a focus on CloudOps/FinOps, reliability, security, and performance. • primary technical delivery partner • Develop and deploy solutions predominantly on AWS, while also providing support for Google Cloud and Azure as required, ensuring the solutions: • improve cost efficiency (rightsizing, reservations/commitments, storage optimization, etc.) • cost efficiency • increase reliability and resilience (HA architectures, SLO/SLA‑aware designs) • reliability and resilience • strengthen security posture (IAM, network segmentation, data protection, least‑privilege) • security posture • reduce operational toil (automation, self‑service, guardrails, policy enforcement) • operational toil • Use DoiT Cloud Intelligence™ to drive concrete actions: • DoiT Cloud Intelligence™ • Build and operationalize Cloud Analytics dashboards and reports for engineering, finance, and leadership. • Cloud Analytics • Use DCI Insights to identify and prioritize cost, risk, and reliability opportunities, and shepherd them through to closure. • DCI Insights • Implement Cloud Composer queries and views to support FinOps and engineering use cases. • Cloud Composer • Build CloudFlow automations (e.g., anomaly routing, scheduled actions, guardrails, policy enforcement). • CloudFlow • Use DataHub and other workload‑intelligence features to optimize key data and analytics platforms. • DataHub • Plan and deliver structured engagements such as: • structured engagements • cost optimization / efficiency workshops • security posture or reliability reviews • architecture deep dives and “well‑architected” style assessments • product adoption and enablement sessions (how to use DCI effectively) • Cloud & Domain‑Specific Engineering • Product & Pattern Feedback • Transform bespoke customer solutions into Gravel Roads, reusable patterns for the DCI platform (available at https://help.doit.com/docs/doit-platform). These patterns include, but are not limited to, playbooks, IaC‑based modules (e.g., Terraform modules), blueprints, CloudFlow templates, CloudDiagrams, Composer Recipes, and DCI Insights. • Provide structured feedback to Product and Engineering on: • product gaps and friction points discovered in real‑world usage • new opportunities for automation and workload lenses within DCI • automation and workload lenses • telemetry and tracking that would make future FDE work more efficient • Contribute to internal enablement: share learnings via documentation, demos, office hours, or training sessions for other FDEs and Customer Success team members. • Collaboration & Communication • Operate as part of your organic FDE team (including your direct manager) and the wider global FDE community, building strong working relationships with peers across regions, time zones, and domains. • organic FDE team • global FDE community • Collaborate with other FDEs to: • co-deliver complex or multi-domain engagements (for example, infra + data + ML/GenAI) • review and refine designs, Gravel Roads, and engagement plans • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement within the FDE organization by participating in design reviews, internal forums, enablement sessions, and experimentation. • Communicate complex technical topics in a way that is clear to both engineers and non‑technical stakeholders (FinOps, finance, leadership). • Maintain clear documentation of architectures, decisions, and implemented changes so customers and fellow FDEs can sustain and build on your work. • clear documentation
