Requirements

• Deep technical expertise in software development with experience leading complex architectural decisions and fostering a culture of engineering excellence. Experience is preferred but not mandatory; at least one year's relevant work experience can be considered as an alternative to the required five years, provided it includes significant leadership responsibilities within technology teams or similar roles in large organizations with over 10 employees where technical expertise was demonstrated and utilized for team growth. • Strong leadership skills necessary for guiding multiple software development teams across product and platform domains while ensuring alignment with business goals through close collaboration with cross-functional partners, including Product, Design, QA, and Infrastructure. Experience in leading a technology or similar role within large organizations is preferred but not mandatory; at least one year's relevant work experience can be considered as an alternative to the required five years of leadership roles directly related to software development teams with over 10 employees where technical expertise was demonstrated and utilized for team growth. • Experience working across time zones, specifically in a role that requires collaboration from Canada, UK, and India is preferred but not mandatory; at least one year's relevant work experience can be considered as an alternative to the required five years of leading software development teams with over 10 employees where technical expertise was demonstrated and utilized for team growth. • Familiarity or interest in AI technologies, particularly Large Language Model (LLM)-based applications is preferred but not mandatory; at least one year's relevant work experience can be considered as an alternative to the required five years of leading software development teams with over 10 employees where technical expertise was demonstrated and utilized for team growth. • Experience in Agile/Scrum methodologies, including planning, resourcing, execution, tracking delivery progress, addressing blockers, managing risks and dependencies, driving accountability, continuous delivery of value to customers is preferred but not mandatory; at least one year's relevant work experience can be considered as an alternative to the required five years of leading software development teams with over 10 employees where technical expertise was demonstrated and utilized for team growth. • Experience in implementing and evolving engineering processes, workflows, building a culture of iteration, feedback, testing, continuous improvement is preferred but not mandatory; at least one year's relevant work experience can be considered as an alternative to the required five years of leading software development teams with over 10 employees where technical expertise was demonstrated and utilized for team growth. • Experience in robust test practices, monitoring, deployment strategies is preferred but not mandatory; at least one year's relevant work experience can be considered as an alternative to the required five years of leading software development teams with over 10 employees where technical expertise was demonstrated and utilized for team growth.

Responsibilities

• LEADERSHIP & TEAM DEVELOPMENT • Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of software developers. • Provide career guidance, support personal development, and drive performance through clear feedback and coaching. • Champion a culture of ownership, learning, and inclusivity within the team. • Recruit, onboard, and retain top talent, ensuring a healthy and collaborative engineering culture. • TECHNICAL DIRECTION & ARCHITECTURE • Guide architecture and technical design of complex, distributed software systems across both product and platform layers. • Participate in design and code reviews to uphold standards and best practices. • Balance immediate deliverables with long-term architectural vision, scalability, and maintainability. • Promote high code quality and maintain a pragmatic approach to technical debt. • PROJECT EXECUTION & DELIVERY • Own the planning, resourcing, and execution of software development projects using Agile/Scrum methodologies. • Align team objectives with business priorities in collaboration with Product and Design. • Track delivery progress, address blockers, and proactively manage risks and dependencies. • Drive accountability and continuous delivery of value to customers. • PROCESS & QUALITY IMPROVEMENT • Implement and evolve engineering processes and workflows to maximize team effectiveness. • Build a culture of iteration, feedback, testing, and continuous improvement. • Ensure robust test practices, monitoring, and deployment strategies are in place. • Lead post-mortem reviews and implement learnings to drive operational excellence. • CROSS-FUNCTIONAL COMMUNICATION & INFLUENCE • Communicate project status, technical challenges, and decisions across all levels of the organization. • Translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders. • Represent engineering in strategic planning, roadmap discussions, and customer interactions when needed. • Collaborate across teams to build shared understanding and alignment. • INNOVATION & EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES • Encourage innovation and experimentation within teams. • Stay current on industry trends and emerging technologies. • While not a requirement, familiarity or interest in AI/ML—particularly LLM-based applications—is a bonus and may be leveraged for product innovation.
