Requirements
• Solid experience in a Data Engineering role (experience with cloud data platforms preferred). • Bonus points if you have experience working in scaling consumer tech business or marketplace. • Solid understanding of data modelling, pipelines, and warehousing • Hands-on experience with at least some of our stack (Snowflake, dbt, AWS, Airflow, Python, etc.) • Strong problem-solving mindset, curiosity, and a passion for scalable, automated solutions. • Enjoy working with internal stakeholders to consistently deliver against key projects and have excellent collaboration and communication skills. • As part of our small team, you’ll need a hands-on, can-do attitude. You’re someone who’s self-motivated and knows how to drive results. • Able to commute to our offices in Cape Town at least 3 days a week. • Strong alignment with our company values.
Responsibilities
• Design, implement, and maintain our Data Warehouse, including monitoring, alerting, and incident resolution. • Administer tools and systems, ensuring security, access control, and performance. • Help software engineering teams understand product performance over time. • Partner with the BI team to enable self-service datasets for key business areas. • Champion automation through Infrastructure-as-Code and scripting. • Uphold data quality, standardisation, documentation, and onboarding best practices • Lead the ingestion of new data sources into the warehouse. • Our Tech • Stack: Fivetran • Snowflake • dbt • Tableau • Airflow • Python • AWS (Fargate, S3, IAM, Secrets Manager, CloudWatch) • Terraform • CircleCI • GitHub • Docker • Datadog • Jira • Confluence • Slack • Google Suite
