Requirements
• Work with engineers, product managers, and product designers to create clear, customer-facing documentation for Metabase. • Collaborate with our Success Engineers to understand how customers think and develop best practices, guides, and tutorials to address customer needs. • Become a product expert, test new features, and provide product feedback. • 3+ years of experience writing docs for technical audiences in data analytics, data engineering, or related fields. • Technical expertise in data science or data engineering - you’ll be expected to be a product and domain expert. • Strong SQL skills. • Solid understanding of database concepts and data landscape. • Experience with docs-as-code workflows, Markdown, and Git. • Experience with API and SDK documentation. • Familiarity with Python or JavaScript. • Strong opinions about docs tooling. • We take documentation seriously. Responsibilities
• Writing technical documentation for Metabase software and its integration with Data Analytics tools. • Creating user guides, release notes, and other written materials to support the use of Metabase in data analytics environments. • Collaborating with product managers and engineers to understand feature requirements and translate them into clear instructions or explanations for end users. • Conducting research on industry best practices related to technical writing and staying updated with changes in documentation standards within the tech community. • Reviewing existing Metabase documentation, identifying areas that need improvement or updates based on user feedback and product enhancements. • Testing new features of Metabase software as they are developed by engineers for accuracy and clarity before finalizing written materials to ensure users receive reliable information. • Communicating with the development team regularly to clarify technical details, understand complex concepts, and gather insights on upcoming changes or enhancements that may impact documentation needs. • Ensuring all Metabase content is accessible by following accessibility guidelines such as WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) for users with disabilities who rely on assistive technologies to navigate online resources. • Maintaining a knowledge base of frequently asked questions and common issues related to using Metabase in data analytics environments, providing clear solutions or troubleshooting steps within the documentation itself. • Collaborating with other technical writers across different teams at Global Remote to share insights, best practices, and resources for creating high-quality content that meets user needs effectively.
