Strong software engineering experience with proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Golang.

Responsibilities
Developing secure software solutions to enhance observability in complex systems within the Security department at OpenAI's headquarters.
Collaborating with cross-functional teams and stakeholders on security projects related to system design, architecture, testing, deployment, monitoring, incident response, auditing, compliance reporting, documentation, training, communication, change management, risk assessment, vulnerability analysis, threat modeling, code review, static/dynamic scanning tools.
Conducting research and staying up-to-date with the latest security trends, best practices, standards, technologies, frameworks, methodologies in observability for software engineering to improve system reliability, performance, availability, resilience, scalability, efficiency, usability, user experience.
Writing clear, concise, and accurate documentation of code changes, test results, security findings, recommendations, decisions, actions taken or planned using appropriate tools and formats for internal use by the team members as well as external stakeholders such as customers, partners, regulators, auditors, users.
Participating in regular meetings with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to discuss project status, progress, issues, risks, opportunities, feedback, suggestions for improvement or innovation using effective communication skills and tools.
Providing technical support and guidance to team members on security observability topics such as setting up monitoring systems, configuring alerts, interpreting metrics, logs, traces, events, anomalies, incidents, audits, reports, dashboards; troubleshooting problems or errors related to system performance, availability, reliability, resilience, scalability, efficiency, usability, user experience.
Conducting security training and awareness sessions for team members on observability best practices, tools, techniques, policies, procedures, guidelines using engaging methods such as presentations, workshops, demos, quizzes, games, stories, examples; creating or updating relevant materials to support learning objectives.
Reviewing and providing feedback on code quality, security standards, compliance requirements for observability solutions in the Security department at OpenAI's headquarters using appropriate tools and techniques such as static/dynamic analysis, peer review, pair programming, testing automation, continuous integration and delivery pipelines; identifying and prioritizing issues or risks related to system performance, availability, reliability, resilience, scalability, efficiency, usability, user experience.
Collaborating with the Security team on developing security observability policies, procedures, guidelines for best practices in designing, implementing, maintaining and improving systems at OpenAI's headquarters using appropriate tools such as threat modeling, risk assessment, vulnerability analysis, incident response planning; ensuring alignment with organizational goals,

The base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. If the role is non-exempt, overtime pay will be provided consistent with applicable laws.
