Requirements
• You likely have: • 1. Strong experience editing or directing YouTube content with real retention instincts • 2. A sharp eye for pacing, rhythm, narrative beats, and visual storytelling • 3. Strong taste in motion graphics and visual cohesion • 4. The ability to explain why something feels wrong and how to fix it • 5. The ability to coach others — you can mentor editors or non-editors effectively • 6. High standards + direct feedback style (we want someone who is critical) • We don’t mind if you’re critical of AI — in fact, that’s a plus. • The goal is to reach junior-to-mid human editor quality through strong direction and iteration. • 1. Experience with faceless documentary / video essay formats • 2. Motion graphics experience (After Effects, templates, libraries) • 3. Experience leading or training editing teams • 4. Experience with SOP creation and production workflows • 5. Strong understanding of what top creators do differently (beat timing, retention, pacing shifts) • 1. Small team, high ownership • 2. We ship fast, measure results, and iterate weekly • 3. You’ll work closely with founders and the dev team • 4. Your feedback directly shapes what we build next
Responsibilities
• 1) REVIEW & DIAGNOSE VIDEO QUALITY • 1. Review generated videos and identify what’s working vs. what’s failing • 2. Spot issues in pacing, story beats, retention, clarity, tone, and visual cohesion • 3. Catch common failure patterns (awkward transitions, mismatched B-roll, generic motion graphics, inconsistent style, etc.) • 4. Give direct, high-signal critique — the kind a strong editor gives in a team review • 2) DEFINE THE CREATIVE STANDARD • 1. Create a clear “minimum viable quality” standard for outputs • 2. Build a style bible / guidelines around: • 3. pacing rules • 4. structure & beats • 6. motion graphics consistency • 7. visual style cohesion • 8. documentary/storytelling principles • 9. Define what “human quality” means in a way that can be measured and improved • 3) COACH THE TEAM • 1. Translate editorial feedback into actionable direction engineers can implement • 2. Provide examples, references, and patterns (what to do vs. what to avoid) • 3. Run weekly feedback sessions with the team • 4. Help non-editor developers build stronger creative instincts • 4) IMPROVE THE MOTION GRAPHICS / STYLE SYSTEM • 1. Direct the evolution of our motion graphics library and overall visual style • 2. Ensure cohesion (fonts, timing, visual language, rhythm) • 3. Define SOPs for how visuals should support narrative beats • 4. Align style across outputs so it feels consistent and intentional
