Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent and 6+ years of relevant experience, with at least 2+ years in a leadership role. • Experience with e-commerce and with specific experience of Shopify a plus! • Proven ability to lead and manage technical teams, drive execution, and deliver results. • Extensive experience in cloud computing (AWS, GCP, or Azure), microservices, and distributed systems. • Proven ability to lead teams with a DevOps mindset, cultivating a culture of collaboration by leveraging agile practices, automation, and CI/CD to drive software quality and delivery speed. • Experience with incident management, reliability engineering, and monitoring strategies. • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to align engineering initiatives with business needs. • Demonstrated ability to recruit, mentor, and grow engineering talent. • Strong grasp of software architecture, API design, and scalability challenges.
Responsibilities
• Lead and manage a team of engineers, fostering collaboration, technical excellence, and career growth. • Own the delivery of engineering projects, ensuring high-quality, timely execution. • Drive technical architecture, scalability improvements, and performance optimizations. • Define team goals, KPIs, and success metrics, aligning them with business objectives. • Promote engineering best practices, including security, testing, and operational excellence. • Partner with cross-functional teams (Product, Design, QA, DevOps) to ensure seamless execution. • Coach, mentor, and develop individual contributors, supporting their career growth. • Participate in hiring, team expansion, and succession planning for engineering talent. • Manage incident response processes, drive post-mortem analyses, and improve system reliability. • Balance technical debt, feature development, and long-term engineering strategy.
