Requirements
• Background: 3rd/4th year Engineering student or a recent grad. • Background: • Location: Able to work on-site in Bangalore (Fermi is currently an on-site culture). • Location: • Vibe: Obsessive about quality, loves STEM, and is excited about building the "future of tutoring" • Vibe: • Strong interest in software testing, QA, or a related role (internships and academic projects count). • A solid foundation in STEM — you studied or are studying physics, chemistry, maths, or engineering at 10+2 or undergraduate level. You need to recognize when an AI answer is wrong. • Sharp attention to detail: you notice things others miss and can describe them clearly in writing. • Basic familiarity with any web browser's developer tools or network tab — or the curiosity to learn. • Good written communication skills to document bugs and test cases in English. • A collaborative attitude and comfort asking for help when stuck. • Any hands-on exposure to tools like Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, or Postman — even from a tutorial or course. • Participation in sprint ceremonies — standups, planning, and retrospectives — alongside the Product and Engineering teams. • Prior use of bug-tracking tools such as Jira, Linear, or GitHub Issues. • Genuine interest in EdTech, AI, or how students learn. • A tablet and stylus for testing handwriting input firsthand — but not a dealbreaker if you don't have one.
Responsibilities
• Manual Testing • Execute test cases for platform features including Homework Assist, Personalized Practice, and Revision modules under the guidance of senior QA members. • Perform exploratory, smoke, and regression testing on web and tablet surfaces. • Verify AI tutor responses for obvious errors, unhelpful replies, and edge-case student inputs — your STEM knowledge is your secret weapon here. • Test handwriting and stylus input on tablet devices to ensure smooth, accurate interaction. • Test out user workflows to ensure they remain the most intuitive for students & teachers • Log bugs clearly with reproduction steps, severity labels, screenshots, or screen recordings. • Help carry out cross-browser and cross-device testing checklists before each release. • Automation Testing (Learning Track) • Assist in maintaining existing automated regression suites and flagging failures after deployments. • Use Postman to explore and manually validate API responses from the AI backend. • Shadow senior engineers during CI/CD pipeline runs to understand how quality gates work in practice. • Quality & Collaboration • Help maintain QA documentation including test case libraries, release checklists, and bug trackers. • Reproduce and triage bug reports coming in from internal teams and the Fermi community (Inapp reporting, Discord, social media etc). • Ask questions, flag confusion, and speak up when something doesn't feel right — a fresh pair of eyes is an asset.
Benefits
• Structured mentorship — you will be paired with a senior QA engineer who will guide your growth week by week. • Competitive entry-level compensation — grow your skills with real life products • Automation training on real tools (Playwright, Cypress) — no prior automation experience required on day one. • Flexible work arrangement (remote / hybrid from India). • A fast-moving, mission-driven team where your bug reports and input genuinely shape the product. • Learning budget for QA certifications (ISTQB), online courses, and workshops. • The rare satisfaction of knowing that the quality you protect helps real students learn better every day.The Recruiter for this role is Ritesh Kalvellu.
