Requirements

• 4+ years of Android development experience • Strong proficiency in Kotlin and modern Android development (e.g., Jetpack Compose, Coroutines, Flow) • Experience architecting and shipping production Android applications • Deep understanding of Android app lifecycle, performance optimization, and debugging • Experience integrating RESTful APIs and working closely with backend systems • Strong product instincts and attention to UI/UX detail • Ability to operate independently in fast-moving, early-stage environments • Experience building consumer social or media-heavy applications • Experience with audio/video playback, media processing, or real-time interactions • Familiarity with experimentation frameworks and analytics instrumentation • Experience collaborating across iOS and backend teams to ensure cross-platform consistency • Passion for music, creators, and social expression

Responsibilities

• Architect, build, and maintain Hook’s Android application using modern Android frameworks • Translate product and design requirements into high-quality, scalable implementations • Ensure strong app performance across media playback, creation flows, and social feeds • Collaborate closely with backend engineers to define clean API contracts • Work cross-functionally with product and design to refine UX and ship iteratively • Establish Android engineering best practices, patterns, and code standards • Monitor performance, stability, and crash metrics to continuously improve quality • Contribute to technical decisions around architecture, tooling, and release processes
