Requirements
• Proficiency in Kotlin and Android development, with experience building and maintaining production applications. • Familiarity with API and SDK design, including integration with backend or hardware systems. • Experience with Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) or other wireless communication protocols preferred. • Knowledge of data engineering concepts such as data pipelines, stream processing, or database optimization. • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work collaboratively across engineering disciplines. • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional environment. • Strong commitment to embracing and leveraging AI tools in day-to-day tasks, ensuring AI-assisted work aligns with the same high-quality standards as personal contributions. • Experience working with hardware development workflows or embedded systems. • Contributions to open-source mobile software projects. • The ability to obtain and maintain a US government issued security clearance is required, and only US Citizens are eligible for such security clearances. • Learn more about our Software Org and how to be successful in your engineering career at WHOOP via our Career Framework. • This role is based in the WHOOP office located in Boston, MA. Responsibilities
• Contribute to the design and development of Android systems that integrate with WHOOP hardware and firmware. • Implement and maintain APIs and services that enable efficient data pipelines of hardware and physiological data. • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance. • Partner with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot issues, improve performance, and enhance system reliability. • Explore and apply new technologies to strengthen accessibility, scalability, and fault tolerance. • Uphold best practices in code quality, testing, and documentation to ensure operational excellence.
