Requirements
• Possesses a deep understanding of international payroll regulations, tax compliance, and best practices, particularly for Portugal. • Demonstrates advanced proficiency in utilizing and optimizing HRIS/payroll systems like Dayforce or Workday to ensure accurate and efficient payroll processing. • Applies strong analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve complex payroll discrepancies, EOR nuances, and compliance challenges. • Complexity and Impact of Work: • Independently manages the full lifecycle of moderately complex international payroll projects, from data input and reconciliation to reporting and year-end processes. • Defines priorities and applies thoughtful analysis to diverse payroll challenges, making informed decisions with minimal supervision that ensure timely and accurate compensation. • Responsible for ensuring compliance with global statutory requirements, directly impacting Anchorage’s operational integrity and employee satisfaction across multiple jurisdictions. • Organizational Knowledge: • Understands Anchorage’s strategic goals related to global expansion and integrates them into payroll planning, ensuring scalability and compliance. • Clearly communicates how precise and compliant payroll operations contribute to overall departmental priorities and the firm’s commitment to its Villagers. • Participates in fostering a culture of operational excellence and compliance within the People Ops team and across the broader organization. • Communication and Influence: • Builds strong, collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders across HR, Finance, and Legal, as well as external Employer of Record partners. • Adapts communication styles effectively to explain complex payroll concepts, gain buy-in on procedural changes, and provide clear guidance to Villagers. • Engages with senior internal and external stakeholders on matters related to international payroll strategy, compliance, and process improvements, articulating potential risks and solutions • You may be a fit for this role if you have: • 5+ years of progressive experience specifically in international payroll processing, with deep expertise in Portugal payroll regulations. • Demonstrated experience managing payroll for international entities, particularly Singapore, including a solid understanding of local statutory requirements. • Proven experience working with Employer of Record (EOR) models and managing third-party payroll providers. • Proficiency with enterprise-level HRIS and payroll systems, such as Dayforce or Workday. • Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills, critical for managing complex payroll data and processes. • Strong understanding of multi-jurisdictional payroll tax laws, social security contributions, and benefits administration. • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex payroll information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences. • A strong desire and proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth, and dynamic environment within the financial services sector. • Intellectual curiosity, integrity, and a proactive approach to identifying and implementing process improvements. • Although not a requirement, bonus points if: • You hold a relevant payroll certification (e.g., Certified Payroll Professional CPP, or equivalent international certification). • You have experience with global equity compensation administration and reporting. • You have a background working in a high-growth fintech or startup environment. • You were emotionally moved by the soundtrack to Hamilton, which chronicles the founding of a new financial system. :)
