Benefits
• Contractor pay $5K – $10.5K per month • We’ve taken a disciplined approach to compensation from day one. It’s the only way to keep things consistent, fair, and strategic—so both our team and company can grow in a healthy way. • We set ranges using benchmarking data (incl. Pave.com - the best source for early-stage companies since it pulls directly from HR systems). • Offers are based on 3 factors: • Performance potential: how you did in interviews and how closely your experience matches the role • Seniority: the depth of your relevant experience • Location: cost of living differences. • Our company • Meadow is rebuilding end-of-life care from scratch. In under two years, we've become the largest independent cremation provider in California, expanded to eight markets across four states, and served thousands of families with 5-star reviews and a 80+ NPS. We're backed by top investors and the team behind Moxie, the medspa platform now at national scale. • Deathcare is a $20B market that hasn't meaningfully changed in 70 years: opaque pricing, no digital presence, and families making the hardest decisions of their lives under pressure. We're building the modern alternative: transparent pricing, 24/7 hospitality, and software that handles the operational complexity so humans can focus on care. • 80% of your work will be on the tools our operations, sales, and care teams use every day to serve families • You'll also be stepping into a small, senior team comprised of our Head of Engineering and two other engineers. Your code reaches production quickly, and the problems you solve are felt directly by the people using the software the next day. • We work out of a single monorepo. FastAPI services in Python, Next.js/React apps in TypeScript, Inngest for event-driven workflows and pub/sub, and Postgres as our primary datastore. • We're a well-funded, 40-person team from Stripe, Google, Opendoor, Oscar, and a16z-backed companies, moving fast in a category that's been waiting for a real company to show up. We're opening new markets every month and hiring people who'd rather build than follow. • Deathcare today runs on paper, phone, and fax. Almost every other funeral company treats engineering as IT. At Meadow, software is how we scale and how we deliver a better experience for families, and it's one of our biggest competitive advantages. The tools you build are what the business runs on. • A small team that leans hard on LLMs ships like a much larger one. Engineers here use AI heavily in the dev loop, and LLMs power core product surfaces. If you've been stuck at a company where AI adoption is blocked by policy or legacy code, you'll feel the difference in week one. • To apply, or to ask questions before you do, reach out to Peter, our Head of Engineering. • Work setup • Long-term contractor via Deel • Based in Latin America (we’re remote first already). Core hours 12 PM–8 PM ET (noon–8 PM Colombia, 1 PM–9 PM Argentina, 11 AM–7 PM Mexico City). • The working language is English, including daily syncs. • Paid monthly in USD through Deel. Rate range $5,000–$10,500/month depending on performance, seniority, and location. • You provide your own laptop and equipment. • On-call expectations: This role includes limited weekday on-call coverage. We ask that you be reachable by phone for the 3 hours after your shift, up to 11pm Eastern, for urgent production issues that require engineering support. Weekend coverage is currently handled separately.
