Requirements

• Deep Underwriting Experience: At least 10–15+ years of direct underwriting work. • Workers’ Compensation Expertise: Profound knowledge and experience in the workers' compensation sector specifically. • Senior Leadership Role: Previous senior leadership role, preferably as a Managing General Agent (MGA). • Experience with MGA Operations: Familiarity or prior work within an MGA environment is beneficial but not mandatory if other relevant experience exists. • Data Analysis Skills: Ability to analyze data and make decisions based on analytics, as this role involves working closely with the data team. • Experience in Proprietary Underwriting Technology: Prior exposure or expertise using proprietary underwriting technology is advantageous but not a strict requirement if other relevant experience exists. • Experimentation Skills: Ability to design controlled experiments and implement successful strategies into standard rules, which implies some level of comfort with testing new approaches in the workplace safety domain.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of underwriting for CompScience. • Develop strategies that align with the company's business objectives and risk management policies. • Evaluate risks associated with insurance products to ensure they meet market demands while adhering to regulatory standards. • Collaborate closely with senior executives, product managers, actuaries, underwriters, claims adjustors, customer service representatives, legal counsel, and other relevant departments within CompScience or its affiliates. • Monitor industry trends, market conditions, competitive landscape, regulatory changes, technological advancements, economic indicators, demographic shifts, consumer behavior patterns, claims data analysis, loss ratios, expense factors, and other relevant information to identify opportunities for growth or improvement in underwriting. • Review existing policies, procedures, systems, processes, workflows, controls, documentation, reports, dashboards, tools, software applications (e.g., ERP/CRM), data sources, databases, analytics platforms, automation solutions, and other relevant technologies to identify areas for improvement or optimization in underwriting operations at CompScience or its affiliates. • Implement changes based on findings from reviews of policies, procedures, systems, processes, workflows, controls, documentation, reports, dashboards, tools, software applications (e.g., ERP/CRM), data sources, databases, analytics platforms, automation solutions, and other relevant technologies to improve efficiency, effectiveness, accuracy, timeliness, quality of service delivery, customer satisfaction levels, profitability margins, risk management practices, compliance with applicable laws and regulations (e.g., solvency requirements), internal controls over financial reporting processes at CompScience or its affiliates. • Develop underwriting guidelines that reflect the company's business objectives while ensuring fairness in pricing policies for all customers across various lines of insurance, products, and services offered by CompScience or its affiliates (e.g., property/casualty; life & health). • Establish underwriting standards based on actuarial principles that align with the company's risk appetite while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations governing insurance practices in different jurisdictions where CompScience or its affiliates operate. • Review, negotiate, revise, approve, implement, monitor, evaluate, report on underwriting guidelines to senior executives at CompScience or its affiliates as needed based on changes in business objectives, risk appetite, regulatory requirements, market conditions, competitive landscape, industry trends, technological advancements, economic indicators, demographic shifts, consumer behavior patterns, claims data analysis, loss ratios, exp
