Requirements
• Experience in Data-as-a-Product: Demonstrated experience coming from companies where data is explicitly considered a product. Demonstrated ability to connect data and ML investments to business outcomes, including revenue growth, cost efficiency, unit economics, and strategic differentiation. • Scalability and System Thinking: Demonstrated ability to design data products and infrastructure that scale horizontally across the entire organization, moving beyond single-use-case solutions to enable systemic impact (e.g., cross-vertical personalization, company-wide decision support). • Experimentation experience: Deep expertise in A/B testing and experimentation best practices in a large scale organization. • Technical Depth & Impact: Comfortable going deep into architecture, understanding complex data/ML infrastructure, and translating that technical expertise into tangible business value and product outcomes. • ML & LLM Expertise: Strong practical experience or deep understanding of the application of Machine Learning (ML) and Large Language Models (LLM) in product development. • Leadership & Management: Proven success in managing and scaling highly technical and data driven product teams, mentoring leaders, and fostering a culture of excellence and innovation. • Product Acumen: A strong product mindset, able to define the "why" and "what" for complex data capabilities and align them with overall company goals. • Exceptional Communication: The ability to communicate complex data concepts and strategic visions effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including senior leadership. • Stakeholder management & influence: Proven ability to influence and align senior stakeholders across Product, Engineering, Data, and Applied AI, navigating trade-offs and resolving conflicts in a high-ambiguity environment.
Responsibilities
• As the Director of Data Products, you will be at the core of Preply's data products transformation, owning the vision, execution, and impact of critical data product squads. • Build the Vision of Preply’s data products: Define and champion the strategic vision for how data will transform Preply's products alongside your data and engineering partners. Lead continuous product discovery to deeply understand the needs of internal product teams, data practitioners, and end users. Translate these insights into a prioritized data product roadmap that balances immediate impact with long-term scalability. • Drive impact: Own the end-to-end success of Preply’s data product portfolio, with clear accountability for adoption, business impact, and ROI. Define and track success metrics such as experiment velocity, decision latency, revenue uplift, and learner/tutor outcomes enabled by data products. • Lead and scale the team: Hire, coach, and develop top talent in the new data products function. • Platform & Innovation: This role is an exciting mix of scalable platform and data product innovation. • You will own the ML/LLM platform teams as well as foundational Data Platform and Analytics Engineering teams, ensuring robust, scalable, and governed data access. • You will also transform the platform into an innovation engine by creating high-impact, product-first data tools that deliver a clear competitive advantage and supercharge the entire organization's product roadmap, including how we scale and structure our rich datasets. • Partner closely with Data, Applied AI and Engineering leadership to define robust, scalable, and future-proof data, ML and LLM products. • Business Impact: Anchor all technical and expert thinking into clear, tangible business impact, ensuring our data investments drive competitive advantage and deliver measurable value to learners and tutors. • Transversal Leadership: Work across all major product verticals (e.g., Growth, Tutor Acquisition, Learning Experience) to identify, build, and integrate high-impact data products. • Experimentation: Own the experimentation function and platform directly, driving a culture of data-informed product iteration and learning.
