Backblaze External Website - Accounting Manager

• Own and manage key accounting functions including fixed assets, lease accounting, and payroll, with flexibility to take on additional responsibilities as the team's needs change • Manage fixed asset accounting end-to-end, including policy, reconciliations, and reporting, using NetSuite and the Netgain Fixed Asset Module (FAM) • Lead lease accounting and ensure compliance with ASC 842 • Oversee payroll accounting and partner with the People team on reconciliations and reporting via Rippling • Lead month-end and year-end close processes, including review of journal entries and account reconciliations • Ensure SOX compliance across areas of ownership; design, document, and monitor internal controls • Support external audit requests and interact with auditors as needed • Drive continuous process improvement and system optimization initiatives • The Right Fit: • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA required or strongly preferred • 6–9 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role • Deep expertise in fixed assets, lease accounting, and payroll • Proficiency in NetSuite or similar accounting systems required • Experience with Netgain FAM and Rippling (or similar payroll platforms) is a plus • Strong working knowledge of SOX compliance and internal controls • Big 4 public accounting background highly preferred • Strong communication skills with the ability to present financial information to non-finance stakeholders • At this point, we hope you're feeling excited about the job description you're reading.
