Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience) • 2+ years of experience in software development, test automation, or related field • Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python or Java are a plus) • Experience with test automation frameworks and CI/CD systems (Appium is a plus) • Learn more about our Software Org and how to be successful in your engineering career at WHOOP via our Career Framework. • This role is based in the WHOOP office located in Boston, MA. Responsibilities
• Test Automation & Framework Development • Design, implement, and maintain scalable automated test solutions and/or tooling • Extend and improve test frameworks to enhance reliability, maintainability, and performance • Translate product requirements into comprehensive and effective test strategies • Ensure test code is clean, reusable, and aligned with engineering best practices • Quality Engineering • Identify gaps in test coverage and proactively address them • Advocate for and implement best practices in testing and quality • Reduce flaky tests and improve CI/CD pipeline stability • Contribute to reducing technical debt in test infrastructure • Scoping & Execution • Independently scope, plan, and execute testing efforts for projects • Partner with engineering and product teams to ensure features are testable • Deliver high-quality test solutions with minimal oversight • Operational Excellence • Debug complex issues across test and application layers • Instrument systems and tests to provide meaningful quality metrics • Collaboration & Communication • Collaborate cross-functionally to define and uphold quality standards • Communicate trade-offs between speed, coverage, and reliability • Mentorship & Influence • Provide guidance and code review feedback to other engineers • Contribute to team-wide improvements in testing practices and tooling • Help elevate overall quality standards within the team
