ATLAS - Forward Deployed Engineer (West)
Requirements
• 5+ years of engineering experience that includes customer-facing, technical deployment work, not just internal product work. • A track record of scoping and delivering complex systems in fast-moving, ambiguous environments. • Production-grade code across frontend and backend, in Python, JavaScript, or a comparable stack. • Genuine comfort with impermanence. You'll be the new person repeatedly, on someone else's team, and you need to build trust fast every time. • Communication strong enough to represent the company well in a room you don't control, with engineers, product owners, and customer executives alike. • Judgment under pressure: the ability to simplify complexity, make fast calls, and stay steady when the stakes are real. • Self-direction. On a deployment, you may need to solution in real time. • Willingness to travel or work on-site when a deployment calls for it. • Prior consulting, professional services, or systems integration experience. • Experience across multiple customer engagements, ideally with reference-able outcomes. • Comfort operating under a customer's security, compliance, or access constraints rather than your own.
Responsibilities
• Own discovery, technical scoping, system design, build, and production rollout for each deployment, partnered directly with the customer's engineering and domain teams. • Build full-stack systems that deliver real production value, not prototypes that stall out at the demo. • Embed closely with the customer's team, understand what they actually need, and guide adoption of what you build. • Scope work, sequence delivery, and remove blockers before they become excuses. • Own the tradeoffs between scope, speed, and quality yourself, and adjust the plan to protect delivery. • Stay in the code when progress or clarity depends on it. This isn't a role you manage from a distance. • Codify what works into tools, playbooks, or patterns we can reuse on the next deployment. • Bring field feedback back to the team: what's working, what's at risk, and what the next assignment should account for.
Benefits
• We’ve got you covered with competitive compensation, medical, dental, and vision benefits, plus flexible time off coordinated with your team. Alongside federal holidays, you’ll enjoy company-wide summer and winter breaks—dedicated time for everyone to unplug, recharge, and make the most of life outside work.
