Percona - Senior PostgreSQL Database Engineer
Requirements
• Deep expert knowledge of PostgreSQL. • Proficiency with wider PostgreSQL ecosystem tools and technologies such as pgvector, repmgr, barman, pglogical, Patroni, pgBouncer. • Experience with performance tuning including server configuration, query optimization, table and index tuning. • Familiarity with backup solutions like pg base backup, pgBackRest and WAL-G as well as Point-in-Time-Recovery practices. • Demonstrable experience in high availability solutions such as replication, routers, proxies etc. • Experience administering Linux systems. • Experience with containerization and Kubernetes including deployment, administration, troubleshooting problems encountered when using PostgreSQL under that environment. • Ability to methodically troubleshoot known errors or think outside the box for complications in database issues.
Responsibilities
• Help our customers’ DBA teams with expert assistance on high complexity problems. Gather relevant data, investigate issues and provide detailed analysis in various formats such as email, instant message, voice for serious production impacting issues through screen sharing sessions. • Author new blog posts on interesting topics to engage the open-source community. Answer questions on our forum and create articles in customer-facing knowledge base. • Demonstrate deep expertise with PostgreSQL including tools like pgvector, repmgr, barman, pglogical, Patroni, pgBouncer etc., as well as proficiency within the wider ecosystem of these technologies and related ones such as WAL-G. • Perform performance tuning tasks which include server configuration, query optimization, table and index tuning with experience in backup solutions like pg base backup, pgBackRest along with Point-in-Time Recovery techniques using tools like WAL-G. • Administer Linux systems effectively based on demonstrable past experiences. • Troubleshoot methodically for known errors or when necessary to think outside the box and resolve complex issues encountered in PostgreSQL, especially under containerization with Kubernetes including deployment, administration, troubleshooting problems experienced by using this environment.
