Requirements
• BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related subject • 8+ years of industry experience • Strong experience with Go language at backend (4+ years) • Excellent debugging, analytical, problem-solving, and social skills • Good understanding of all building blocks of large web applications: databases, load balancers, application servers, message brokers, caching, monitoring, etc. • Experience with building and scaling distributed, highly available systems • Experience in Ruby on Rails is a plus • Contributions to open-source projects are a big plus • Understanding of possible bottlenecks in a code and a solution in general • At least basic knowledge of Kubernetes concepts and configuration • Experience with Docker and other isolation technologies • Experience with Redis-based caching • Experience with public cloud infrastructure providers (AWS/Azure/Google Cloud) • Experience in related fields (DevOps, ML, DBA, Enterprise applications, etc) • Experience with third-party REST APIs at scale (request throttling, batch processing, etc) • Readiness to work remotely with teams distributed across the world and timezones • Spoken English (at a level enough to pass technical interviews and work with colleagues) • Open to new technologies and willing to experiment • Full-cycle product feature delivery mindset (from design to production and maintenance). • Job Req ID: 2423 • Job Req ID: 2423
Responsibilities
• Design, build, and maintain Go microservices with a focus on correctness and reliability. • Implement business logic and enterprise-quality standards across the platform. • Collaborate with Infra and SRE teams to ensure high availability and scalability requirements are met. • Contribute across all phases of the development lifecycle. • Write well-designed, testable, and efficient code. • Evaluate and propose improvements to existing systems. • Product & Technology Context: • Strong web development background, with experience building user-facing products — including UI, business logic, and integrations with external APIs. • Product-minded engineering experience: you understand how technology ties back to user and business needs, not just infrastructure. • Track record of shipping user-facing business features across product platforms, developer experience platforms, or other customer-facing surfaces. • Solid production experience — typically 7+ years — with the depth and maturity to build and support systems in production. • Clear understanding of how web applications work end-to-end, and how the different pieces fit together to deliver a product or business outcome. • Depth and consistency in technical background — we value engineers who've built real expertise over time, rather than hopping across many different stacks. • Our core platform is a Ruby on Rails monolith, with some Go services handling more focused functions alongside the Ruby/monolith team. Experience with these is a plus, but we care most about strong engineering fundamentals and product experience. • This role isn't primarily ML/LLM-focused, so candidates whose recent experience has been mostly in ML/LLM work may not be the strongest fit here.

In this role, you will be responsible for developing mission-critical features and services for the Workato platform, including AI chatbot dispatching and balancing synchronous and asynchronous AI execution. You will also be accountable to: • Senior Go Engineer • Build high-performance gateways and routing components • Build server-side infrastructure for logging and monitoring • Work closely with Infra and SRE teams to ensure high availability and scalability requirements are addressed • Collaborate closely with the AI team to design and implement innovative features for a new AI assistant, ensuring cutting-edge performance and user experience. • Contribute at all phases of the development lifecycle • Write well-designed, testable, efficient code • Evaluate and propose improvements to the existing system • Support continuous improvement by investigating alternatives and technologies and presenting these for architectural review
