Requirements
• Prior knowledge, experience and formal training: Safeguarding, Prevent, Sexual Harassment/Violence, Suicide Prevention, or Workplace Investigation. Willingness to complete Designated Safeguarding Lead Training Level 3 (or above) upon starting the role. • Emotional Resilience: The ability to remain effective and professional when managing challenging and high-risk cases, with a proactive approach to maintaining personal wellbeing and seeking support as needed. • Communication Skills: Strong non-judgmental active listening skills and the ability to communicate with empathy and clarity in high-stakes situations. • Case Management Capability: The capability and willingness to manage complex cases with the support of the Safeguarding Lead with a meticulous attention for detail and flawless documentation. • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with relevant regulatory frameworks (e.g., DfE Funding Rules, KCSIE, and Ofsted EIF) and the ability to apply these to daily tasks. • Problem Solving: Strong initiative and reasoning skills; able to resolve problems within a team or work assignment using clear guidelines. • Data Literacy: An analytical approach to identifying trends in safeguarding data and using those insights to suggest system improvements. • Discipline: Exceptional organisational skills with a focus on delivering high-standard documentation and meeting commitments on time. • Collaboration: A track record of modelling collaborative behaviour and building trusting relationships with cross-functional team members. • Ethics & Equity: A profound commitment to the company’s values, with an active awareness of how bias or exclusion can occur in a team environment. • Apprentice Journey: Demonstrable experience within a coaching or learner-facing role, with a strong understanding of the apprentice journey. • Regulated Environments: Previous experience working within an Ofsted-inspected environment or a similar regulated framework (e.g. ISI).
Responsibilities
• Culture & Environment: Champion a culture of safeguarding and promote a safe, trusted, positive, and inclusive learning environment across the organisation. • Operational Implementation: Support the implementation and continuous refinement of tracking and monitoring systems to ensure consistent logging of safeguarding actions. • Reporting & Analysis: Prepare regular and detailed trend analysis of all safeguarding cases, using these insights to recommend process refinements and inform the development of CPD for staff. • Operational Case Management: Lead the day-to-day triage and management of safeguarding concerns, including conducting initial risk assessments, meeting with learners at risk, and managing urgent interventions. • Case Administration & Compliance: Ensure meticulous documentation of all case notes and actions, maintaining a robust audit trail and ensuring all records are compliant with regulations and data protection standards. • Training Administration: Execute scalable processes for staff training record-keeping, ensuring all staff (Safeguarding and Prevent) remain up-to-date. • Escalation & Referrals: Manage the safeguarding escalation process, including check-ins, external support referrals, and professional communication with external agencies and the DSL. You will maintain an up-to-date directory of relevant external agencies and partners to ensure referrals can be made effectively and at pace. • Team Enablement: Empower Delivery teams (coaches and instructors) by providing the tools, training, and processes needed to effectively recognise and respond to at-risk apprentices. • Resource Curation: Develop and maintain both learner- and staff-facing resources (e.g. Guru articles, signposting guides) to ensure clear, up-to-date protocols are accessible across the organisation. • Subject Matter Expertise: Maintain specialist knowledge in safeguarding practices, staying informed of industry trends and acting as a source of expertise for new teammates.
