Requirements
• Skills needed: Staff Infrastructure Engineer with experience in database administration for Oracle databases using SQL Developer toolset; proficiency required in Linux/Unix systems and scripting languages such as Bash. Experience working on large infrastructure projects is a plus, along with knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP). • Years of experience: 5+ years preferably within the last five years directly related to database administration or similar roles at companies like Oracle Corporation; additional points for more extensive experience in IT Infrastructure. • Education: Bachelor's degree required, Master’s preferred but not mandatory (Bachelor's + relevant work experience may suffice). Previous employment as a DBA is highly desirable and considered equivalent to the education requirement if applicable. • Certifications: Oracle Database 2 Day Course certification or similar recognized credentials in database administration/infrastructure engineering are preferred but not mandatory; additional points for other relevant industry certifications like Cisco CCNA, CompTIA A+, AWS Solutions Architect Professional etc., if applicable. • Must-haves: Familiarity with Oracle's infrastructure and support tools is a must (Oracle Support Tools); experience in managing large databases across multiple data centers preferred; knowledge of automation scripts for database maintenance tasks appreciated but not mandatory.
Responsibilities
• Developing infrastructure to support business operations within a company in the United States. • Working remotely from any location as specified by employer policies and guidelines. • Collaborating with engineering teams on projects related to staff infrastructure needs, including but not limited to network design, server management, data center optimization, cybersecurity measures, disaster recovery planning, cloud computing services integration, virtualization strategies, software development for internal tools or platforms, and system monitoring solutions. • Providing technical support and troubleshooting assistance as needed by the engineering team members in a timely manner to ensure smooth operations of staff infrastructure systems without direct interaction with end users unless required due to specific incidents that need immediate attention from senior management level personnel only (e.g., security breaches, system outages). • Participating actively within cross-functional teams such as IT Operations Management Council or Engineering Steering Committee meetings where relevant topics related infrastructure engineering are discussed regularly; attending these events virtually via video conferencing platforms when necessary due to geographical dispersion of team members across different locations worldwide. • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge about emerging technologies and industry trends that could impact staff infrastructure systems, including but not limited to cloud computing services adoption strategies; virtual private network (VPN) security protocols implementation techniques for remote access control purposes among distributed workforce members across various locations worldwide. • Monitoring performance metrics related directly associated with the efficiency of existing or newly developed internal tools/platforms designed specifically by staff infrastructure engineers themselves through automated reporting mechanisms using appropriate software applications such as Grafana dashboards, Prometheus monitoring systems etc., analyzed periodically on a weekly basis to identify potential areas for improvement in terms reducing costs while maintaining high levels of reliability and availability within these tools/platforms. • Collaborating closely with other departments including Human Resources (HR), Finance & Accounting, Information Technology Services Management Council etc., whenever necessary during project planning phases or when required by senior management level personnel due to specific incidents that need immediate attention from them directly affecting staff infrastructure systems performance metrics negatively impacted thereby resulting in decreased productivity levels among employees working remotely within these teams globally. • Ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and policies related specifically towards immigration sponsorship requirements for foreign nationals seeking employment opportunities at Obvious Company located outside their home country(ies). This includes providing necessary documentation such as visa applications forms along with supporting evidence required by Immigration Authorities before granting work authorization permits allowing them access into United States territory legally working under specific terms outlined within these documents approved directly through senior management level personnel only after thorough review processes conducted internally prior to submission outside company premises.
