Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Agriculture, Crop Science, or a related field • 4+ years of professional experience in cocoa agronomy, farmer training, or agricultural development programs • Strong knowledge of cocoa GAP and smallholder farming systems in Indonesia (Sulawesi experience preferred) • Experience supporting agronomy monitoring, data collection, and/or questionnaire development • Ability to synthesize field findings into clear recommendations and reporting inputs • Strong communication skills in Bahasa Indonesia and working proficiency in English • Willingness to travel regularly to rural cocoa-growing regions and work closely with field teams • Proactive, self-driven, and motivated to support sustainable rural development • Experience with sustainability standards or certification-linked cocoa programs • Familiarity with climate-smart or regenerative cocoa approaches • Experience working with NGOs, research institutes, or multi-stakeholder cocoa initiatives in Indonesia
Responsibilities
• Agronomy Technical Support • Provide technical advice on cocoa agronomy and Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) for smallholder farmers in Indonesia • Design and develop agronomy-focused interventions, e.g. improving yield, pest and disease management, and rehabilitation practices • Run selected farmer trainings • Train agents on how to provide and run farmer training • Questionnaire and Tool Development • Develop and refine agronomy-related questionnaires and field monitoring tools • Ensure survey accurately captures farmer practices, constraints, and sustainability indicators, especially in the context of cocoa • Monitoring, Verification, and Reporting • Conduct field-based monitoring to assess adoption of agronomic practices and implementation quality • Support verification and agronomy assessments through field visits and data review • Analyze agronomy-related data, track key project indicators, and contribute insights to internal and external reports (experience with Excel preferred) • Monitor the quality of data collected daily, synthesize insights and report results to the regional team • Support presentations for key in-country stakeholders • Partner and Stakeholder Engagement • Support coordination with implementing partners, extension services, farmer organizations, NGOs, and other key cocoa stakeholders in Indonesia • Contribute to mapping and strengthening agronomy-related stakeholder networks in Indonesia
