Substantial - Senior Software Developer
Requirements
• A track record of building and shipping production software, including what happened after release. • Solid architecture and system design skills, with depth in at least one area and comfort across the stack. • Sound judgment on technical trade-offs, and the ability to explain your reasoning. • An understanding of the user and business needs behind the work. • Clear communication with engineers, non-engineers, and clients. • Fluency with modern tools, including AI, while keeping a high bar for quality.
Responsibilities
• Design, build, and ship production software inside client engagements, from core operational systems to new products and services. • Own complex or ambiguous areas of a product or system, from shaping the problem through to release. • Make and explain important architecture and product trade-offs. • Anticipate production risks and failure modes, and follow up on how your work performs after launch. • Work directly with clients, designers, and other engineers to decide what to build and what not to build. • Mentor peers and raise the quality of your team's decisions through code review.
