Requirements

• A "Lead at All Levels" player-coach. You stay close to the technology — understanding the full stack from client to BFF — contributing code, reviewing PRs (~15% of your time), and leading by example. You know when to go deep and when to step back and let your team run. • A "Lead at All Levels" player-coach. • A "Learn-it-all" experimenter. You don't just ship features — you run experiments. You reason rigorously about A/B test design, sample sizes, and interference effects, and you treat every surface as an ongoing hypothesis, not a finished product. • A "Learn-it-all" experimenter. • An "Accountability" operator. You translate OKRs into sequenced plans with clear owners, dates, and fast re-plans when assumptions break. You manage inbound platform requests, surface cross-pod risks early, and re-plan with clarity when priorities shift. • An "Accountability" operator. • A "Hustle" builder. You are creative and unrelenting in how you deliver impact. You champion AI-native development — not as a buzzword, but as core workflow infrastructure that measurably improves how your team plans, builds, tests, and reviews code. • A "Hustle" builder. • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field • Bachelor's degree • 3+ years of experience managing a team of 5+ engineers in a fast-paced product environment • Strong mobile or client-side engineering background — React Native, or equivalent depth in a BFF/full-stack web context — with a track record of shipping member-facing UI at scale • Strong mobile or client-side engineering background • Experience owning a major product surface end-to-end, from architecture through experimentation through production reliability • Experience owning a major product surface end-to-end • Demonstrated ability to run A/B experiments and reason about experimentation strategy (sample sizes, interference effects, decision rules) • Demonstrated ability to run A/B experiments • Track record of hands-on technical contribution as an EM — code reviews, architecture decisions, PR merges • Track record of hands-on technical contribution as an EM • React Native / Phoenix depth: Experience building or leading teams in large React Native codebases, with working knowledge of client performance, render optimization, and app architecture patterns • React Native / Phoenix depth • Server-Driven UI experience: Familiarity with SDUI patterns and the tradeoffs of moving layout logic from client to server • AI-native development practices: Experience using Cursor, Claude Code, or equivalent agents as core workflow infrastructure — not just autocomplete. Opinions on prompting, agent review, and harness engineering • AI-native development practices • Platform engineering mindset: Experience operating a shared product surface where other teams build on top of your output — balancing internal velocity with external stability • Platform engineering mindset • GraphQL / Apollo: Familiarity with Apollo caching, BFF patterns, and the performance implications of client-driven data fetching in a mobile context • GraphQL / Apollo • Hinge Health Hybrid Model • We believe that remote work and in-person work have their own advantages and disadvantages, and we want to be able to leverage the best of both worlds. Employees in hybrid roles are required to be in the office 3 days per week, for the full 8 hours of a typical business day. The San Francisco office has a dog-friendly workplace program. • At Hinge Health, we're using technology to scale and automate the delivery of healthcare — starting with musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions, which affect over 1.7 billion people worldwide. With an AI-powered human-centered care model, Hinge Health leverages cutting-edge technology to improve outcomes, experiences, and costs to help people move beyond their pain. The platform addresses a broad spectrum of MSK care — from acute injury, to chronic pain, to post-surgical rehabilitation — through personalized, evidence-based care. As the preferred partner to 50+ health plans, PBMs, and other ecosystem partners, Hinge Health is available to over 20 million people across more than 2,550 employers. The company is headquartered in San Francisco with additional offices in Montreal and Bangalore. Learn more at hingehealth.com.

Responsibilities

• In your first 6 months, you will drive the SDUI migration to completion — enabling new experiments and layouts to ship without app releases and unlocking a step-change in experiment velocity. You'll stand up a rigorous experimentation framework (card ordering, layout variants, content strategies) that balances sample sizes, interference effects, and isolation in a constrained user pool. • In your first year, you will have made the Today tab a meaningful daily pull for members and turned Explore into a high-intent "second session" surface through Favorites, content discovery, search, and better personalization. You'll own the team's AI-native development practices — architecture docs, Claude Code skills, AI-assisted PR workflows — and be recognized across the neighborhood as the standard-bearer for Harness Engineering. Your pod will be operating as a high-trust platform partner, with clear extension patterns that allow other pods to build safely on Home. • In your first year
