Requirements
• 7+ years of product management experience with deep ownership of hardware-enabled systems, including embedded systems, and hardware-software integration. • Full hardware phase ownership experience: PRD through EVT, DVT, PVT, and mass production, with direct accountability for system-level requirements and cross-device trade-offs. • Strong technical foundation in perception and sensing technologies (cameras, radar, thermal, BLE beacons, audio) and ability to translate real-world functionality into complex cross-device system requirements. • Proven ability to work fluently with hardware, firmware and software engineers on technical requirements, constraints, and system-level trade-offs—you can hold your own in a schematic review or a firmware debug session. • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, durable system requirements, technical PRDs, and trade-off analyses for both engineering and leadership audiences. • Experience with safety-critical or regulated device environments (UL2560/UL 1069, FDA, FCC, or medical device standards). • Experience in healthcare, senior living, or clinical settings where reliability, privacy, and trust are paramount. • Familiarity with AI/ML applied to on-device sensing data, telemetry anomaly detection, or perception pipelines. • Details • The annual salary for this role is $240,000–280,000 + equity + benefits (including medical, dental, and vision). • Location: Remote, US. NYC preferred.
Responsibilities
• Own the System of Systems: Define and maintain system-level requirements and architecture across all current hardware and future devices. Serve as the authoritative voice on how devices collaborate, communicate, and fail gracefully together. • Own the System of Systems: • Lead discovery on new and existing hardware types: Partner with hardware, software and commercial teams to evaluate sensing technologies and device configurations, assess technical feasibility and regulatory constraints, and tie recommendations directly to business expansion opportunities (e.g., new product SKUs, market expansion opportunities and new verticals, and stronger unit economics). • Lead discovery on new and existing hardware types: • Lead Hardware Phase Ownership: Own product programs from PRD kick-off through Concept, EVT, DVT, PVT, and into mass production. Drive hardware-phase requirements, gate decisions, and cross-team alignment at each milestone. • Lead Hardware Phase Ownership: • Shape Cross-Device Trade-offs: Identify integration gaps, reliability risks, and cross-device dependencies before they become field issues. Surface concrete, well-reasoned trade-off recommendations to engineering leadership. • Shape Cross-Device Trade-offs: • Partner with Implementation: Work closely with the implementation team to translate real-world deployment constraints into product requirements—and to quickly triage when systems behave unexpectedly in the field. • Partner with Implementation: • Drive AI-Powered Product Development: Use AI as a daily multiplier—spotting patterns in device telemetry, generating PRDs from raw notes and logs, maintaining a living system-of-systems knowledge base, and accelerating the feedback loop from field observations to product decisions. • Drive AI-Powered Product Development: • Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work closely with hardware engineering, firmware, software, mobile, and Data & AI teams, as well as Implementation, Clinical Success, and Operations—acting as the integration point that keeps the whole system coherent. • Collaborate Cross-Functionally:
