Thoroughly negotiate contracts including parts pricing, tooling costs, and engineering services (NRE/EDT). Work with suppliers to release parts into production and issue POs for prototype parts and prototyping or production tooling. Manage supplier development timelines, part availability for prototype builds and start of production; develop solutions to delays or problems that arise. Maintain overall supplier relationships as point of contact for all commercial issues including internal report-outs summarizing sourcing status, parts availability, and cost status. Travel 15-25% to visit suppliers to perform business reviews (implied requirement).
Years of experience: At least 8 years in Purchasing, Supply Chain or Engineering within the automotive industry; Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 8 years’ relevant work experience is preferred. Alternatively, Masters' degree and at least 5 years' related experience may be considered (implied requirement).
Education: At least a Bachelor's degree in technical, supply chain or finance discipline required; Master's degree can substitute for the minimum of eight years’ relevant work experience with five additional preferred.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with Engineering and Supplier Quality to identify potential suppliers.
Create RFQs, review quotations from suppliers, analyze them, clarify any ambiguities, develop sourcing recommendations considering cost, quality, lead time, and technical aspects.
Thoroughly negotiate contracts including parts pricing, tooling costs, and Engineering Services (NRE / EDT).
Work with suppliers to release parts into production and issue purchase orders for Prototype Parts and both prototype/production Tooling.
Manage the timelines of supplier development and tooling as well as part availability for prototyping builds or start of full production, including developing solutions to delays or problems that arise.
Maintain overall relationships with suppliers acting as a point of contact for all commercial issues, summarizing sourcing statuses, parts availability, and cost assessments internally within the company.
Travel 15-25% of time visiting suppliers to perform business reviews and program evaluations.
