• Own the design, implementation, and testing of backend systems, APIs, and infrastructure producing code that's robust, well-considered, and built to operate reliably at scale. • Work closely with product, UX, and engineering peers from the earliest stages of a feature, shaping architecture decisions before they're hard to change. • Architect and build reusable, well-tested components that make the platform stronger and the next feature easier to ship. • Hold a high bar in code review giving feedback that's direct, constructive, and focused on design and long term maintainability, not just correctness. • Take responsibility for the performance, security, integrity, and resilience of what you build; raise concerns early and follow through on them. • Uphold and actively contribute to engineering standards and best practices, not because you're told to, but because you understand why they matter. • Use AI-assisted and agentic coding tools as a natural part of your workflow — knowing when they add leverage, when to interrogate their output, and how to review AI-generated code with the same rigour you'd apply to anything else.
