Requirements

• 10+ years in DevOps, infrastructure, or platform engineering, with at least the last 3 years in an active individual contributor capacity. We need a leader whose hands are still on the keyboard. • Production-grade Terraform experience. You can design and operate complex IaC patterns at scale, not just write modules. • Deep multi-cloud experience: AWS as primary going forward, Azure for current state. Strong on at least one, real working knowledge of both. • CI/CD pipeline design and operation, ideally with GitHub Actions. End-to-end automation from commit to customer. • Container orchestration in production (Kubernetes, Docker, Podman). • Linux infrastructure proficiency, including shell scripting. Comfortable in mixed Windows / Linux transitional environments. • Track record managing a small team (you do not need to have run a 50-person org; you do need to have led others). • Experience operating in a regulated industry: healthcare, finance, government, or similar. SOC 2, HITRUST, GDPR, or PCI exposure. • Strong cross-functional collaboration. You build credibility with engineering teams through competence, not authority. • Self-directed. You can read a problem, make a call, and own the outcome without escalating every decision. • Prior software development background. You understand the application lifecycle from the inside, not just from the operations side. • Jira systems administration experience. You have set up workflows, not just used them. • Past experience scaling a DevOps function from a small team to a real organization. • Located in the New Hampshire or greater Boston area. We have office space available if you want it. Not required.

Responsibilities

• Lead the DevOps function as a player-coach, balancing hands-on technical contribution with team leadership and mentorship. • Design and operate our deployment automation, from GitHub through to customer environments, using Terraform and GitHub Actions. • Drive the active migration from Azure-heavy infrastructure toward an AWS-forward future state, while keeping current Azure workloads stable. • Set the standard for infrastructure as code. Target 95 percent IaC coverage within 12 months. • Own cloud cost. Reduce Azure spend by 50 percent and AWS spend by 25 percent through architectural and operational discipline. • Bake security and compliance into infrastructure by default. Support HITRUST and SOC 2 control requirements as a built-in capability, not an afterthought. • Move our application architecture toward cloud-native patterns (ECS, Kubernetes) where they make sense. • Build and grow the DevOps team. Recruit, onboard, and develop the people who will scale this function with you. • Partner closely with engineering, security, and product leaders. Be the bridge between infrastructure and the rest of the business.

Benefits

• Base salary range: $150,000 to $185,000, depending on experience. Target hire is around $165,000. • Performance bonus per company plan. • Standard health, dental, vision, and PTO. • Remote within the United States. We are not hiring in California for this role. • OUR HIRING PROCESS • We respect your time and want you to know what to expect: • Application review and quick assessment (about 30 minutes, sent automatically). • Screening conversation with our senior engineering leader (about 45 minutes). • Deep technical interview with our senior architect (60 to 90 minutes). • Focused interview with the CTO on leadership and team fit (60 minutes). • On-site final conversations with our CEO and CAO at a location convenient to you (30 minutes each). • Reference checks and offer. • Total elapsed time is typically 4 to 6 weeks from application to offer. We move quickly when we find the right person. • A NOTE ON OUR PROCESS • Technical hiring has a serious fraud problem right now, and we have built our process to filter that out early. Our pre-screen assessment is part of how we verify legitimate candidacy before asking our team to invest interview time. If you are a real engineer, you will not find any of it onerous; it is designed to be respectful of your time. We are happy to answer questions about it before you start. • Council Capital and our portfolio companies are committed to building high-performing teams by hiring the best talent—period. • We believe in putting the right people in the right seats, regardless of background, and we’re always looking for individuals who bring fresh thinking, grit, and a drive to make a difference. • Thank you for considering a role with one of our companies. We’re excited to learn more about you.
