Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in PR, Journalism, Communications, or a related field. • 5-7 years of professional experience in Public Relations or Communications (Agency or in-house). • Prior experience in health-tech, behavioral health, or a highly regulated industry is strongly preferred. • Self-starter who thrives in ambiguity and can see a project through from start to finish with minimal guidance. • You have a "love for language" and can adapt your tone for a high-level medical journal or a consumer-facing TikTok-style media request. • Experience using PR measurement tools (like MuckRack) to translate "mentions" into meaningful business insights. • Flex PTO policy (3-5 wks/year recommended) + 11 paid company holidays. • Generous parental leave.
Responsibilities
• Media Relations & Storytelling • Pitch and secure placements in print, broadcast, and digital media across consumer health, tech, culture, and lifestyle beats, leveraging existing relationships and building new ones with national and local outlets. • Develop targeted, angle-specific pitches, press releases, byline articles, media alerts, and keynote talking points that provide a sense of hope and healing. • Build and maintain relationships with reporters, editors, and producers; manage media inquiries; coordinate interviews; and support/facilitate media training and spokesperson preparation for clinical experts and senior executives. • Monitor media coverage and implement an "always-on" PR strategy that aligns with key cultural milestones and business goals. • Campaign and Research Execution • Support the development and execution of research-driven media campaigns, including drafting and editing press releases, media pitches, pitch follow-ups, data one-pagers, and other campaign materials. • Manage and maintain media lists using tools such as Muck Rack, and track outreach and placement results; identify new reporter targets and beat opportunities as Equip's media reach expands. • Monitor, analyze, and report on PR results quarterly, using data to show how our reach is moving the needle on brand awareness. • Executive and Thought Leadership Communications • Ownership over the awards and speaking engagements program. • Support the development of thought leadership content for Equip's spokespeople. • Draft spokesperson prep documents, Q&A documents, and talking points ahead of media interviews. • Assist with bylined content, op-eds, and contributed articles for trade and consumer outlets. • Cross-Functional Collaboration • Partner with internal teams, including Marketing, Clinical, People, and Patient Acquisition, to ensure consistent, on-brand use of PR assets and messaging. • Support internal communications rollout of major campaigns in coordination with the PR Director and the Internal Communications team. • Ensure all external communications reflect Equip's unique voice—balancing professional clinical authority with warmth and empathy.

This is a stationary position that requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards as well as to talk or hear by telephone.
