Requirements

• Tertiary qualification in mathematics, engineering, economics or other related quantitative field. Minimum Bachelors but Masters or above would be desirable. • Achieved N1-level proficiency on the Japanese-Language Proficiency Test (advanced/near-native Japanese) • Technical • Deep domain expertise in the Japan energy market, including power market fundamentals, regulatory landscape, and commercial dynamics • Understanding of emerging technologies and how this is likely to impact the industry. • Understanding of various Mathematical Programming methods and how they are used. • Experience using PLEXOS and excellent understanding of how it is used and its capability. • If no direct PLEXOS experience, candidate must be able to demonstrate solid knowledge of, and experience in using, other market simulation software tools or programs. • Has at least basic knowledge of scripting / coding languages. • Understanding cloud environments in which our cloud and SaaS products reside. • Non-Technical • Strong written and verbal interpersonal and technical communication skills with ability to communicate complex issues clearly, credibly, and with confidence. • Knowledge of general customer service principles is required. Candidate must be genuinely passionate about working with the internal team to deliver an outstanding service to our customers and helping to resolve their complex technical issues. • Good knowledge of various problem-solving techniques with ability to analyse situations and apply critical thinking to decide appropriate courses of action and implement solutions to overcome challenges and deliver valuable outcomes. • Commercial acumen with understanding of general business principals and the impact of business decisions on broader business functions and environment. • Emotional intelligence with ability to recognise one’s own feelings and those of others to appropriately manage those emotions when responding to different situations. • Direct people leadership experience is preferred but not essential. Either way, the candidate for this role must have the passion and desire to develop and lead a team and be prepared to invest the time and effort to develop their own leadership and mentoring capability with the support of the business. • Knowledge of change-management principles with experience in applying these principles to lead the implementation of a business, process or technical change. The candidate must also be resilient and adaptable to change. • Passionate about working with others to achieve goals. Must have the ability to build strong relationships with others and be a natural collaborator.
