perchwell - Senior Android Engineer
Requirements
• We are looking for an experienced Android engineer to take part in all stages of the product development and deployment lifecycle for our mobile applications. Mobile is a core part of our platform - real estate professionals rely on Perchwell while on the go, and our mobile experience is central to how agents search, collaborate, and close deals. As part of our small team of developers, you'll collaborate across the company to help shape our team, processes, and tech stack as we scale our business and technology. • WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON: • Build exceptional Android experiences: Design, build, and scale Perchwell’s Android app serving real estate professionals, delivering fast, stable, and intuitive mobile experiences that empower users to search, collaborate, and close deals from anywhere. • Lead meaningful initiatives: Lead Android initiatives from technical design through launch, driving execution and ensuring quality while partnering with senior engineers and leadership on overall direction. • Enhance product sales: Our mobile experience is a competitive differentiator for new clients and a delightful extension of the Perchwell platform. • Contribute to Android architecture: Help shape the structure and setup of our codebase, advising on decisions to ensure it is scalable, maintainable, and testable to support faster feature development and customer satisfaction. • Collaborate across disciplines: Work closely with backend, product, design, and QA to deliver seamless, high-quality user experiences. • 4-6 years of professional Android development experience, with a strong command of Kotlin and the modern Android ecosystem (Jetpack, Compose, Coroutines, dependency injection, etc). • Proven track record owning and delivering features from design through release, with a growing scope of impact across the codebase. • Solid understanding of mobile reliability and scalability, with experience identifying and resolving recurring issues. • Experience contributing to technical direction - helping define standards, participating in architectural decisions, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. • Strong customer empathy - the ability to translate complex user needs into technical solutions that address both immediate problems and long-term product health. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to present technical tradeoffs clearly to stakeholders. • Strong collaboration with backend and product partners, translating business needs into technical execution. • Love ownership, iteration, and making things better every release. • This role is open to remote, but those located in the NYC area will work out of our New York City HQ in Soho Manhattan at least 3 days/week (including Mondays, which are mandatory in-office days). • Modular Android architecture - Experience designing and implementing feature modules, shared library modules, and dependency management strategies to support clean separation of concerns and fast build times. • Familiarity with backend systems and APIs, particularly in the context of designing robust and functional client-server contracts for mobile applications. • Continuous integration - Familiar with common tools and techniques for structuring and organizing mobile builds and automated testing tracks to improve quality and reduce developer cycle time.
Benefits
• Your work will directly power how thousands of real estate professionals run their businesses, not just a small feature in a massive codebase. You’ll help shape our mobile architecture and standards from the ground up while working on a small, talented team that values autonomy, mentorship, and quality. • You’ll collaborate in person with a tight-knit team from our SoHo office (3+ days per week), creating an energizing environment that keeps us connected. For candidates needing to relocate, Perchwell can provide relocation assistance. • To provide greater transparency to candidates, we share base salary ranges for all US-based job postings regardless of state. Our ranges are based on function and level benchmarked against similar stage growth companies.
