Requirements
• 3+ years of PostgreSQL experience (querying, schema design, and performance tuning) • 3+ years of database architecture experience • 8+ years of backend development experience, including at least 4+ years using Go in production • Building scalable, high-performance Go microservices • Proficiency with message queues, pub/sub systems, or event-driven architectures • Deep knowledge of Go internals and concurrency patterns (goroutines, channels, sync primitives) • Expertise in profiling and optimizing Go applications for latency and throughput • Understanding of Go memory management, profiling, and performance optimization. • Designing REST and gRPC APIs consumed by multiple clients and services • Familiarity with observability tools (Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, Grafana) • Experience in CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and Kubernetes • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills • Feeling uneasy that you haven’t ticked every box? Responsibilities
• Build performant, reliable backend systems using Golang in a distributed environment with PostgreSQL as the database system where Go services are clients but not limited to. • Contribute architectural discussions and deliver features that matter for Flock Safety's safety technology platform. • Design scalable, high-performance Go microservices tailored for real-time intelligence in a nationwide public-private safety network. • Proficiency with message queues, pub/sub systems or event-driven architectures to support the distributed backend system requirements of Flock Safety's platform. • Deep knowledge and understanding of Golang internals and concurrency patterns such as goroutines, channels, and sync primitives for efficient Go service development at Flock Safety. • Expertise in profiling and optimizing Go applications to enhance latency and throughput which is crucial for real-time intelligence delivery by the platform. • Understanding of Go memory management, profiling techniques, and performance optimization strategies as they apply specifically within a distributed backend system context at Flock Safety. • Design REST and gRPC APIs that are consumed by multiple clients and services to facilitate communication across various entities connected through Flock's safety network. • Familiarity with observability tools like Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, Grafana for monitoring the distributed backend system performance at Flock Safety. • Experience in CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and Kubernetes to maintain a robust deployment process within Flock’s fully remote team environment.
Benefits
• In this role, you’ll receive a starting salary between $171,000 and $200,000 as well as Flock Safety Stock Options. Base salary is determined by job-related experience, education/training, as well as market indicators.
