Requirements
• Experience building AI-powered or AI-native products, particularly systems involving LLMs, agentic workflows, or intelligent automation. • Experience using AI coding tools to accelerate software development while applying strong engineering judgment to review and validate generated code. • Experience in an early-stage startup or as an early engineering hire, where you've helped establish technical direction and engineering practices from the ground up. • Experience in insurance, fintech, enterprise SaaS, or other complex, highly regulated domains. • $200,000 - $230,000 a year • Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate location, experience and expertise and may vary from the amounts listed above. Responsibilities
• Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of engineers, including hiring, performance management, career development, and technical mentorship. • Set technical direction and help define the roadmap for your team, translating ambiguous product and customer needs into clear engineering priorities and measurable outcomes. • Stay deeply engaged in the technical work by guiding architecture, reviewing critical design decisions, and helping the team build scalable, reliable, secure production systems. • Partner closely with Product, Design, Data Science, Customer-facing teams, and engineering leadership to drive complex initiatives from idea through production. • Leverage AI-native development tools and workflows to increase engineering velocity while maintaining rigorous standards for correctness, security, reliability, and production readiness. • Who We Hope You Are: • 8+ years of software engineering experience, with meaningful experience building and operating production software systems. • 2+ years of experience managing or technically leading engineers, with a track record of hiring, developing, and retaining strong engineering talent. • Strong technical depth in distributed systems, APIs, cloud infrastructure, or modern web application development, with the ability to engage deeply in architectural and technical decisions. • Demonstrated ability to lead large, ambiguous technical initiatives from strategy and architecture through execution and production. • Proven track record of operating effectively in fast-paced, high-growth environments where priorities evolve and teams need to move quickly. • Strong cross-functional communication skills and the ability to create alignment across Engineering, Product, Data Science, and other stakeholders.
