Requirements
• Deep experience as a backend software engineer required; minimum of 5+ years in technical roles with emphasis on building robust backends and database structures that can scale user volume and business complexity. Experience crafting such systems is preferred but not mandatory if equivalent skills are demonstrated through other means (e.g., prior role responsibilities, projects). • Familiarity with DevOps practices including setting up CI/CD pipelines and containerization techniques like Docker or Kubernetes; experience working with service providers such as AWS, configuring CDNs, using Heroku is a plus but not mandatory. Experience operating as tech lead on critical projects where these skills were applied would be highly desirable. • Prior high-growth stage company experience preferred to understand the demands of scaling rapidly; however, this requirement can be waived if equivalent leadership and growth experiences are demonstrated through other means (e.g., significant contributions in previous roles). • Entrepreneurial spirit is required with a passion for building consumer products that shape behavioral patterns within their industry or market sector – the role seeks individuals who enjoy creating new, unknown platforms as cornerstones of user experience and engagement. • Strong judgment skills are necessary to make difficult technical tradeoff decisions; ability to exercise strong decision making in complex situations is preferred but not mandatory if equivalent experiences can be demonstrated through other means (e.g., prior role responsibilities, projects). Responsibilities
• Developing scalable backend systems that support Kindred's business needs using a variety of programming languages such as Python, Java, C++, Go, and Ruby on Rails. • Designing, implementing, testing, documenting, deploying, monitoring, troubleshooting, optimizing, maintaining, refactoring, and improving existing backend systems or developing new ones to meet evolving business requirements using industry best practices for software development lifecycle (SDLC). • Collaborating with cross-functional teams including product managers, designers, QA engineers, DevOps specialists, database administrators, security experts and other stakeholds in the engineering team to ensure alignment of technical solutions with business goals. Communicate effectively using appropriate tools such as Jira or Confluence for project management purposes while maintaining a high level of code quality standards throughout all stages of development lifecycle including coding style guidelines, unit testing practices and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to ensure timely delivery. • Implement security measures such as encryption protocols, access control mechanisms, input validation techniques etc., in order to protect sensitive data from unauthorized access or breaches while complying with industry standards like OWASP Top 10 and GDPR regulations for handling personal information of users. • Providing technical support by responding promptly via email/SMS channels, phone calls etc., when required to resolve issues reported from the frontend team members or end-users related to backend services such as API errors, database connectivity problems etc.; escalating critical incidents through appropriate ticketing systems like Sentry for immediate attention. • Conduct code reviews and provide feedback on peers' work in order to maintain high standards of coding practices while identifying potential areas for improvement or optimization; participate actively during team meetings discussions about technical challenges faced by the organization as well as sharing knowledge gained from personal experience with regards relevant technologies used within Kindred. • Staying up-to-date on latest industry trends, emerging tools and frameworks related to backend development such as microservices architecture patterns or serverless computing paradigms; attending conferences/workshops regularly in order gain insights from experts working at leading companies like Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Amazon Web Services(AWS) etc.; reading relevant blogs articles published by reputable sources including Medium, Hacker News etc. • Collaborating with other engineers across different teams within Kindred to identify opportunities for cross-functional collaboration such as integrating backend systems into existing products or developing new features that require input from multiple disciplines; participate actively in hackathons organized by company internally where possible while maintaining professionalism at all times during these events. • Mentoring junior engineers
