Requirements
• Ph.D. or M.S. in a quantitative field with 3+ years of experience, or a Bachelor’s degree with 7+ years of experience in Data Science, Analytics, or a related discipline • Strong foundation in experimental design and analysis, with the ability to translate findings into meaningful business or product decisions • Advanced proficiency in SQL and experience leveraging business intelligence tools to uncover insights and guide strategy • Competency in Python, R, or another scripting language for data analysis, modeling, and problem-solving • Ability to distill complex data into clear, compelling narratives that influence decision-making • Proven success partnering cross-functionally and communicating effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders alike • What Sets You Apart • Experience applying data science to marketplace optimization challenges, including pricing, matching, or supply-demand dynamics • A builder’s mindset - you thrive in fast-moving environments, embrace ambiguity, and take ownership from insight through execution • Naturally curious and eager to explore new tools, methods, and approaches that unlock better outcomes • Passionate about using data to shape products that create meaningful value for customers and the business
Responsibilities
• Identify meaningful business and product opportunities that are currently unaddressed, and develop the insights, models, and systems needed to drive measurable impact • Build advanced machine learning, optimization, and analytics solutions that improve marketplace efficiency at scale • Design and execute experiments and observational studies that generate actionable business and product insights • Partner cross-functionally to define key metrics, improve logging and instrumentation, and build data visualizations and diagnostic tools that enable smarter decision-making • Deliver ad hoc analyses and investigate performance trends, operational issues, and metrics-based opportunities with minimal guidance • Translate complex analyses into clear recommendations and compelling narratives that influence strategic direction across the organization • Help orient teams around data-driven product development and foster a culture of thoughtful experimentation and rigorous decision-making
