Requirements

• Experience in software development: at least 5+ years. • Prior experience working on distributed, cross-functional teams is required; priorities and problems change daily. • Comfortable with scaling production web applications using TypeScript/NodeJS environment preferred (at least 1 year of DevOps or SRE role). • Strong knowledge in relational databases: Postgres experience preferred but not mandatory if other database skills are present. • Hands-on observability systems experience required, with familiarity in Prometheus/Mimir and OpenTelemetry tools; Grafana usage is a plus. • Container orchestration (Docker) knowledge necessary or equivalent Kubernetes understanding preferred but not mandatory if Docker expertise exists. • Practical infrastructure management skills using Terraform are required, with experience in managing IaC being an asset. • Experience running systems within cloud environments is needed; GCP preference noted but other clouds accepted (e.g., AWS). • Proficiency and practical CI/CD pipeline building and maintenance such as GitHub Actions preferred or equivalent skills acceptable if not required experience in this area, provided there's a willingness to learn quickly on the job.

Responsibilities

• Partner closely with our engineers to debug production issues, improve performance, and design systems that scale reliably • Own and evolve Socket’s infrastructure, with a focus on reliability, performance, and cost as we scale • Help define and evolve SLIs and SLOs for new and existing systems, turning reliability into something that can be measured and improved • Debug, maintain, and improve our deployment pipeline, including addressing failures in production and driving meaningful improvements over time • Build and maintain observability across our systems (metrics, logs, traces) to support faster detection and resolution of issues • Participate in an on-call rotation and drive incident reviews with an emphasis on concrete follow-ups and system improvements
