Requirements
• You've built integration systems that actually work in production at scale: REST, gRPC, webhooks, message buses (Kafka, RabbitMQ), API gateway patterns. You've dealt with flaky third-party APIs, retry storms, and webhook delivery failures — and you've built systems that handle them gracefully. • Healthcare EHR experience is a strong signal: You know what it means to integrate with Epic, Athena, or Cerner, the sandboxes, the certification processes, the SMART on FHIR flows, the quirks. If you don't yet, you learn fast and you've integrated complex enterprise systems before. • You still write code: Player-coach. You set the technical bar by example on system design, code quality, and connector reliability. • You've led engineering teams: hired the best, driven performance, made people better, built a culture of reliability and ownership. • Security and compliance aren't afterthoughts: You've done HIPAA reviews, threat modeling, and SOC 2 prep. You know what data flows need BAAs and why. • You've operated in high-intensity environments: Seed through Series A/B, early-stage, or high-growth. You know how to prioritize ruthlessly when the integration queue is longer than the team. • Cloud and CI/CD fluency: GCP, AWS, or Azure; Docker, Kubernetes, GitHub Actions. You can ship and operate connectors in production. • Audit all current integrations: reliability, error rates, security posture, and coverage gaps. Publish SLAs and on-call runbooks • Define and ship the 12-month integration roadmap: which EHRs unlock the most ARR, which partners are queued, what the repeatable connector framework looks like • Deliver one net-new EHR connector to production or pilot: establish the template for the Quarter target of 5 integrations • Establish gold-standard CI/CD and observability: p95 deploy time under 15 minutes, error budget policy, on-call rotation • Reduce integration incident rate and MTTR by 30%: through automated monitoring, alerting, and self-healing • Kick off hiring for two key integration engineering roles
Responsibilities
• Own the strategy, design, and execution of all platform integrations that connect Sully.ai http://Sully.ai’s AI medical employees with major EHRs, partner APIs, and healthcare data standards. Build and scale a high-performing team, work closely with Product, Clinical, Security, and Customer Success, and ensure integrations are robust, secure, HIPAA compliant, and loved by customers. • WHAT YOU MUST BRING: • 6+ years of software engineering, including 3+ years managing and scaling teams in high-growth early stage startups. • Deep integrations experience across industries with the ability to quickly master healthcare data standards and EHRs. • Strong system design skills: microservices, REST or gRPC, message buses like Kafka or RabbitMQ, and SQL or NoSQL design. • Hands-on coding in Python, Node.js, or TypeScript. Familiarity with React and TypeScript integration patterns is a plus. • CI/CD and cloud expertise: GitHub Actions or Jenkins, Docker and Kubernetes, AWS or GCP or Azure. • Security and compliance knowledge: HIPAA and SOC 2, security reviews, threat modeling. • Excellent communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders. • Experience at a Series A or B AI or healthcare startup. • Working knowledge of ML, AI, and LLMs. • FIRST-MONTH FOCUS • Audit current integrations, reliability, and security posture. Define and publish SLAs and on-call runbooks. • Finalize a 12-month integration roadmap and target list across EHRs and partner APIs. • Ship an SDK and sample app MVP for partner onboarding. Kick off hiring for two key roles. • Deliver one net-new EHR connector to production or pilot, and set a repeatable template to hit Q4 target of 5 integrations. • Establish gold-standard CI/CD and observability: p95 deploy time under 15 minutes, error budget policy in place, on-call rotation running. • Reduce integration incident rate and MTTR by 30 percent through automated monitoring, alerting, and self-healing. • Define and drive a unified integrations strategy across FHIR, HL7, DICOM, and custom partner APIs. • Lead design and hands-on development of core connectors for Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, Meditech, and others. • Recruit, mentor, and grow an integrations and reliability engineering team. Partner cross-functionally to prioritize the roadmap and meet HIPAA and SOC 2
Benefits
• Real PMF: 270+ clinics live, 2M+ encounters processed, integrations are already working and already driving revenue • The commercial leverage is direct and measurable: every EHR connector you build unlocks a segment of the market. • The technical challenges are real: flaky EHR APIs, FHIR compliance, multi-tenant webhook delivery, real-time data sync at scale. This is not a maintenance role. • You're replacing a genuinely broken workflow (manual documentation = physician burnout), not adding an AI feature • Small team, outsized surface area, high ownership: If you want to own the integration strategy of the company defining how AI works in healthcare, this is it • 🔥 Revolutionizing the antiquated $800B+ Healthcare market • 🧠 60%+ Ex-founders who have built, scaled, exited. We hire A-players • ⚡️ Speed matters: we operate with urgency, autonomy, and ownership • 🧪 You’ll work on real, first-of-their-kind problems at the edge of AI and medicine • ❤️ Your work directly unlocks doctors to reclaim their time, and patients get better, faster care
