deepl - Staff Software Engineer | Identity
Responsibilities
• Raise the engineering bar across the team through design review, mentoring, and pragmatic technical standards, enabling everyone around you to deliver at a higher level. • Own the delivery of identity services end to end, from design through implementation, deployment, and ongoing operation. • Step into urgent customer and operational incidents, helping the team diagnose and resolve them quickly and then prevent them from happening again. • Balance feature delivery with the reliability and availability of critical infrastructure that runs at high request volumes. • Set technical direction and make principled architectural trade-offs on reliability, availability, consistency, and security across the identity domain. • Help move the identity platform from startup grade to solid, scalable infrastructure over time. • Shape the longer term identity roadmap, including the evolution of SSO, SCIM, and OIDC on modern cloud infrastructure. • Leading analysis of complex or ambiguous needs. Framing solutions in business terms. Coordinates alignment across stakeholders and ensures delivery addresses the real problem. • Qualities we look for • Production grade backend engineering at Staff level, with a track record of owning systems across team boundaries. • A strong record of driving initiatives from design through implementation, deployment, and operation. • Genuine willingness to get hands on and to jump into operational and incident work. • Experience building and operating reliable, high throughput services, balancing delivery with keeping systems running. • Solid software engineering and architecture principles that you can spread across a team through mentoring. • Comfort operating in a fast moving, still maturing organisation, with the resilience to work through ambiguity. • Clear communication and the ability to influence technical direction without authority. • Depth in identity and access platforms such as SSO, OIDC, SCIM, and session management, and familiarity with modern cloud native infrastructure such as EKS, Aurora, and Redis, are a plus rather than a requirement.
