Responsibilities
• Lead and scale an existing team of 3 recruiters (2 US-based, 1 Philippines), setting the standard for recruiter performance, coaching, and accountability - this is a team, tech, and talent developer role. • Serve as a strategic thought partner to the CHRO and senior leadership team on talent strategy, workforce planning, and market intelligence - bringing a proactive point of view on hiring trends, talent availability, and competitive positioning rather than waiting for headcount approvals to land. • Adopt an AI and automation-first approach to recruiting infrastructure, while maintaining a people-first candidate and hiring manager experience. • Drive Director+ recruiting by partnering with internal recruiters and external vendors. Set clear expectations, timeline accountability, and cost discipline - able to run a search themselves, assign to a member of the recruiting team, and credibly challenge or redirect agency recommendations. • Build and evolve Backblaze's recruiting infrastructure - ATS optimization, sourcing strategy, pipeline analytics, and intake rigor - partnering with HRBPs to translate headcount plans into execution across all our teams, including AI-adjacent and AI-native roles. • Bring deep US and global hiring expertise to a distributed team, operating effectively across US time zones from a LATAM base with fluency in cross-border hiring practices and EOR frameworks - and the credibility to influence hiring managers at every level of the organization. • Own hiring effectiveness across Backblaze, with accountability for quality of hire, funnel performance, and hiring outcomes; establish clear metrics and drive continuous improvement. • Right Fit • 8+ years of experience in recruiting, including leadership of high-performing teams • 3-5+ years of experience managing and developing recruiters in a fast-paced technology/SaaS environment. • Comfortable operating hands on including managing a focused requisition load • Background recruiting for technical roles (Engineering, Cloud, AI/ML) • Experience hiring across in the US, LATAM, and APAC, ideally including EOR and offshore environments • Deep understanding of AI-first recruiting technologies and experience integrating them into the core of the recruiting software stack to drive efficiency and quality. • Proven track record of building or scaling recruiting functions and improving hiring outcomes. • Demonstrated ability to own and improve the quality of hire, not just time to fill. • Strong experience using data and funnel metrics to drive recruiting performance and decisions. • Experience leading Director+ and executive searches, both directly and through search firms. • Ability to partner with and influence senior leaders on hiring strategy, leveling, and talent decisions. • Experience building structured, scalable recruiting processes (ATS, interviewer training, intake rigor). • Comfortable operating in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment with high expectations.
