gc-ai - Member of Technical Staff, Founding Forward Deployed Engineer
Requirements
• 5+ years of experience building and shipping production software. • 3+ years of experience working directly with customers, users, or stakeholders to design and deliver technical solutions (FDE, solutions engineering, consulting, or technical founder backgrounds all count). • Strong programming skills in TypeScript or Python and ideally one or more additional languages. • Hands-on experience with APIs, integrations, webhooks, or platform products. • Ability to lead technical projects with a high degree of ownership and ambiguity. • Clear communication of technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. • Experience building workflow automation systems. • Experience working on APIs, SDKs, or developer platforms. • Experience with AI products or LLM-powered applications. • Experience in legal technology, compliance, procurement, or enterprise software. • Experience designing systems that connect multiple products, services, or internal tools. • High agency. You operate autonomously, figure things out without a roadmap, and thrive when the path isn't clear. • High cooperation. You work well across teams of technical and non-technical people, balancing competing priorities without losing momentum. • Product instinct. You can tell the difference between a one-off customer request and a pattern that should become a platform feature. • Solving real problems, not building demos. You care about whether the integration actually works in production on Monday morning, not whether the architecture diagram looks elegant. • We’re building something new in a once-in-a-generation shift in technology and the legal industry, so we move at a relentless pace. We expect urgency, ownership, and good judgment even when things aren’t perfectly clear. If you need structure and consensus to do your best work, this isn’t the right place for you. If you thrive in ambiguity and growth, work with intensity, and want real responsibility, keep reading. We’re excited to meet you. • How We Work Together • GC AI is a distributed company with team members across North America, and soon Europe. We believe that because our business is AI, human connection matters more, not less. We invest in bringing people together through our hub model: regular coworking sessions, customer dinners, team and company offsites. If you’re in a location without an office, expect up to 10% travel (and more for customer-facing roles). • Team members in the San Francisco Bay Area and Provo, UT (within 50 miles of the office) work together on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. As we grow, we plan to establish permanent offices in more hub cities, and we will look to our team members to help build that in-person culture. We currently hire across the United States and Canada.
Responsibilities
• Work directly with customers to understand their legal and business workflows, systems, and technical requirements. • Design and build integrations using the GC AI API, from prototype through production deployment. • Help customers deploy GC AI into critical business processes, including contract review, procurement, vendor management, and compliance. • Troubleshoot and debug customer integrations in real time. • Identify repeatable deployment patterns and contribute them back to Product and Engineering as reusable platform capabilities. • Create reference implementations, documentation, and best practices that help future customers move faster. • Travel to customer sites as needed (up to 25%). • High agency.
