Requirements
• 5-8 years of experience in regulatory legal roles, preferably within the payments, fintech, or cryptocurrency sectors. • Experience in legal and regulatory practices relevant to Korean financial regulations. Involvement in licensing or direct interaction with Korean regulatory bodies. • In-house legal experience within Financial Services, Fintech, Technology, or related regulated industries is highly preferred. • Strong expertise in Korean regulatory and compliance frameworks, with a solid understanding of local laws affecting financial and technology sectors. • Demonstrated ability to provide pragmatic legal advice balancing regulatory requirements and business needs. • Proven track record of working independently in a fast-paced, global environment, collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams across multiple locations. • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to deliver clear, actionable counsel under tight deadlines. • Experience conducting risk assessments, compliance reviews, and enhanced due diligence in a regulated environment. • Hands-on approach with strong project management skills, capable of managing complex legal and regulatory projects independently.
Responsibilities
• Provide comprehensive legal and regulatory support to local business teams in Korea, including general legal advice, contract review, and negotiation assistance across a broad range of legal areas such as local commercial law, corporate law, labor law, intellectual property, and regulatory compliance. • Proactively identify regulatory and legal risks, propose solutions, and anticipate support needs to deliver strategic and practical legal guidance to local teams. • Monitor, interpret, and maintain up-to-date knowledge of Korean laws, regulations, and regulatory developments relevant to the business, providing strategic advice to ensure compliance and mitigate risks. • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and agreements, providing holistic risk assessments and recommendations that balance business objectives with regulatory compliance and risk mitigation. • Lead the development, implementation, and management of local legal and compliance programs, including ongoing regulatory strategy and engagement with Korean regulatory authorities. • Support internal stakeholders in regulatory filings, licensing, and responding to regulatory inquiries or investigations in Korea.
