Forma - Senior Software Engineer
Requirements
• 2–5 years of professional experience building backend services and APIs. • Strong proficiency in TypeScript/NestJS • Solid experience with relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL - schema design, query optimization, and migrations. • Experience with event-driven architectures or messaging systems (e.g., Pub/Sub, Kafka, SQS/SNS) is a strong plus. • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure - GCP preferred, but AWS or Azure experience translates well. Bonus points for experience with Kubernetes, Terraform, or CI/CD pipelines. • Comfortable with observability tools (logging, metrics, alerting) - we use Datadog, but experience with similar platforms counts. • Experience at a growth-stage startup where you've had to balance speed with quality. • You start with the WHY, and aren’t afraid of asking questions out of curiosity. • Fintech, benefits, or HR tech experience is a plus - especially if you've worked with financial transactions, compliance requirements, or third-party integrations (e.g., Stripe, Plaid).
Responsibilities
• Design, build, and maintain backend services that power Forma's benefits platform — including APIs for account lifecycle, transactions (claims, reimbursements, contributions), and member management. • Work across React/TypeScript/NestJS services, contributing to whichever codebase the work requires. • Build and consume event-driven integrations using Google Pub/Sub, enabling reliable communication between services. • Collaborate closely with product, ops, customer success teams and engineers across the different teams to deliver features that serve members, customer admins, and internal operations teams. • Contribute to engineering standards, tooling, and processes that help the team ship faster and more reliably. • Use AI tools thoughtfully as part of your workflow - we encourage engineers to leverage AI assistants to accelerate development, improve code quality, and explore solutions faster, while maintaining strong judgment and ownership of the work they ship.
