Requirements

• Statistical foundations. You have a background in probability and statistics from a quantitative field such as mathematics, physics, or statistics. You're comfortable with Bayesian reasoning, and have applied hierarchical models or formal decision-making under uncertainty in real work. • Causal inference and experimentation. You've separated signal from noise in observational and experimental data. You know where A/B testing breaks down and what to reach for instead. • Analytical ownership. You take loosely defined problems from start to finish – framing the question, choosing the method, and landing the answer with the people who act on it. • Data tooling. You're proficient with data manipulation and modelling tools, and with scientific computing libraries. • AI leverage. You've used AI to produce work you couldn't have delivered without it – an analysis pipeline, a prototype, or a tool others use. You judge where it helps and where it doesn't, and you check its output before anyone acts on it. • Communication. You write and speak clearly, directly, and concisely. You adapt technical detail for non-technical colleagues in commercial and strategy roles. • Modelling depth. You've built or adapted statistical or ML models and can explain the maths behind them. • Stochastic methods. You've used stochastic processes for inference or time-series modelling. • Broker market insight. You've worked with brokers or other intermediaries in lending or financial services. • Coding. You can write code for analysis. The team works in Python.

Responsibilities

• Section 3 of 3: How you approach data science • At iwoca, data science combines statistical reasoning, commercial judgement and AI. We expect all three to keep shaping how the work gets done. • We want to understand how you approach the work and how you use AI. Your answers help us prioritise and shape the conversation at interview. • How do you use AI tools – in work or other projects? • Select the option that best reflects where you are right now. • I haven't used AI tools in any meaningful way yet. • I use AI for specific tasks – drafting, summarising, generating code to spec • I use AI as a thought partner – to stress-test ideas, explore problems, shape decisions • I use AI to make things I couldn't make on my own – output beyond my unaided capability • I've built systems where multiple AI components coordinate toward an outcome • Describe how you've used AI in a piece of work – or something you're building or planning to build next. • Professional, academic or personal – all count. Tell us what the problem was, what you used or built, and what happened. Or tell us something new you're planning. • If you've covered something relevant in your CV, feel free to reference it and add context that didn't fit there. • Describe the trade-off and reasoning behind a statistical or analytical decision you made where the answer wasn't obvious. • Same as above - professional, academic or personal – all count. Specific examples are more useful than general principles. • And again - if you've covered something relevant in your CV, feel free to reference it and add context that didn't fit there. • Diversity Survey (Optional) • This survey helps us evaluate our diversity and inclusion efforts. It's voluntary and optional. And, refusal to submit the survey will not affect your job application. • Survey answers are not seen on an individual basis. This submission will only be used to help us with our commitment to continuously improve our diversity and inclusivity best practices. • Either way, thank you for reading. • What is your current age? • I prefer not to answer • What is your gender identity? • Another Gender Identity • Which of the following communities do you belong to?
