Requirements
• 5+ years of experience working with PHP • 3+ years of hands-on experience with Symfony • 2+ years writing unit tests with PHPUnit • Excellent communication skills in cross-functional teams • Familiarity with JavaScript, React, Node.js, and/or TypeScript • Experience with Docker and/or Kubernetes • Familiarity with CI/CD pipeline workflows • At Smart Working, you’re more than a remote developer. Responsibilities
• Develop and maintain backend systems using PHP/Symfony framework to ensure robustness, scalability, and security of applications. • Collaborate with frontend developers and other team members in the software development lifecycle by providing technical guidance on architecture decisions. • Implement new features based on user requirements while ensuring code quality through rigorous testing procedures including unit tests, integration tests, and performance benchmarks. • Optimize existing backend systems to improve efficiency without compromising functionality or security standards. • Troubleshoot issues related to the server environment such as database connectivity problems, memory leaks, or other system errors that impact application performance. • Monitor production environments using tools like New Relic and Datadog for real-time insights into backend health and proactively address potential bottlenecks before they affect users. • Document codebase to ensure maintainability by writing clear comments within the source code, creating user guides or developer documentation as needed. • Participate in code reviews with peers to uphold coding standards and share knowledge across team members for continuous improvement of technical skills. • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices by attending webinars, workshops, conferences or self-study through online resources like Coursera or Udemy related to backend development in PHP/Symfony environment.
