Requirements
• PhD or Master's in Optics, Photonics, Mechanical Engineering, or related field • 6-10+ years of experience in optical hardware, packaging, or manufacturing • Strong experience with fiber optics, waveguides, and coupling techniques • Experience with optical packaging and alignment at scale • Understanding of tolerance analysis and yield optimization • Hands-on experience with lab validation, prototyping, and build processes • Experience working with manufacturing partners (foundries, OSATs, CM) • Familiarity with CPO or high-density optical packaging is strongly preferred • Experience with processing and characterizing optical fibers and Silicon Nitride (SiN) optical waveguides
Responsibilities
• Custom process flow development – architect, prototype, and refine fabrication flows across silicon, glass, or compound substrates for VCSELs and optoelectronic structures. • Process Transfer – You'll own the transfer of our processes from internal development into a III-V foundry partner, qualifying the flow end-to-end. • Rapid prototyping & iteration – drive fast cycles from CAD to measured die, identifying and optimising key process levers. • Process definition & scale-up – document mask sets, material stacks, and dependencies; mature experimental flows into repeatable, pilot-ready documentation. • External collaboration – work directly with R&D partners, universities, and external foundries to qualify new process steps, tools, and materials. • Strategic oversight – guide internal technicians and external partners, ensuring process discipline, yield learning, and structured design feedback. • Data-driven optimisation – use DOE/SPC and metrology data to accelerate convergence and maintain process control. • Knowledge capture & review – maintain detailed process documentation; run internal reviews and FMEA sessions.
