Responsibilities
• Working in a product development team with internal users to understand emerging and existing needs to steer the development of the enterprise design system, and supporting the teams who build with it • Working closely with designers as equal partners, and with product and engineering, to help shape the future of the global Agent Experience product and the design system • Designing, building and shipping React components and patterns that conform to WCAG 2.2 AA to help the team meet their delivery goals • Reviewing code from your colleagues, including contributions from outside the team, and setting the quality bar for design fidelity and accessibility • Making the design-to-code workflow work in practice, including design tokens, handoff and component documentation • Running the contribution process so that teams beyond our own can propose, build and ship into the design system, and leading changes that affect several apps from first proposal to final migration • Creating and delivering against the technical strategy for your team in partnership with the engineering manager • Promoting engineering, design and delivery best practices within the team, and coaching the engineers and designers who use the design system • Shaping how we use AI-assisted development in design system work • Championing progressive architecture and reviewing design solutions with other engineering leaders • Representing the design system to engineering and wider stakeholders, and helping set its direction • Working within a team of other senior leaders responsible for designing and evolving the architecture of the enterprise design system at Kaluza • Ideally you'll have/be: • Deep experience building Frontend components with React and TypeScript • Deep experience designing, building and running design systems, including tokens, component APIs, documentation and versioning • Knowledge of implementing and maintaining WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility, with practical empathy for users with accessibility needs • Good design and UX judgement, starting from the user, and comfortable challenging and being challenged by designers • Experience running changes across multiple apps • Strong communication skills, comfortable working with stakeholders across engineering, design, product and the wider business, holding opinions loosely and raising what matters even when it is inconvenient • A bias to action and a ‘Can do’ approach to problem solving in the face of uncertainty • Experience of mentoring, training and developing other engineers • An ability to deliver against a technical strategy iteratively, working through ambiguity to deliver change over longer periods • Experience of building and nurturing highly collaborative and engaged teams • Comfort with AI-enabled development, ideally leading others in using it well • An ability to collaborate with people managers, product managers and agile practitioners to contribute to a high-performing culture • Kaluza Values • Kaluza Values • Here at Kaluza we have five core values that guide us as a business: • Play to win, Solve the real problem, Build trust every day, Own the outcome, Go further together.
