Coupang - Senior Manager - Backend Engineering

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with 3+ years in engineering management • Strong technical background in Java backend development and distributed systems • Experience managing teams of 10+ engineers through full development lifecycle • Hands-on experience with relational databases (MySQL, Aurora, TiDB) and NoSQL (DynamoDB) • Experience with event-driven architectures and streaming platforms (Kafka, Flink, or Spark) • Track record of delivering large-scale, high-reliability platforms on time • Strong communication skills — ability to translate between business stakeholders and engineering teams • BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience • Experience working on large-scale distributed or event-driven systems • Prior experience in e-commerce, transportation, logistics, or platform engineering domains • Experience building or re-architecting systems for global scalability • Strong track record of driving cross-team initiatives in fast-paced environments • Experience hiring and scaling engineering teams in a high-growth setup • Type of work model • Type of work model • Our Hybrid work model: Coupang hybrid work model is designed to enable a culture of collaboration that acts a catalyst to enrich the experience of employees.
