3ive - Founding Product Designer
Requirements
• We are a small, AI-native team and we need a senior designer who defines how engineers and AI agents work together in 3D. You own product design end-to-end and take on a real share of product management (~30%) together with the founders. • You have designed complex B2B / SaaS products – dense data, multi-step workflows, expert users who don't forgive friction • You have shipped AI and agent experiences – not just chat, but human-in-the-loop review, uncertainty, and making an agent's reasoning traceable • You prototype in code – and put working prototypes in front of users, not just Figma frames • You think like a product manager – you run user interviews, write crisp specs, prioritise ruthlessly and work directly with engineers • You combine taste with pragmatism – you know when to polish and when to ship • You are fluent in German and English – our users are engineers at German manufacturers and you will talk to them directly • Experience with 3D, CAD, PLM or other engineering software – ideally in a startup – is a strong plus. • 🏗️ WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON • You will shape the future of agentic 3D design and engineering. There is no pattern library for this category yet – you will write it. What that looks like right now: • Designing how an engineer briefs, steers and reviews an AI agent that generates and modifies 3D designs – from a customer request to a validated design variant • Making agent work inspectable in 3D – viewers, cuts, measurements, 2D drawings, and a clear view of what the agent changed and why • Turning a fast-grown product into a coherent design system together with our frontend engineers • Running research loops with engineers at automotive and industrial customers and turning them into roadmap, specs and shipped features • We work with Figma, Flowbite, Linear and a modern Python and TypeScript stack – and we prototype with AI every day.
Benefits
• A software engineer today works alongside Claude Code or Cursor. A mechanical engineer designing the next jet engine still clicks through CAD trees, searches Excel sheets and asks whoever has been around longest. • We are building the AI co-engineer for physical products: one that works natively in 3D and learns from real engineering decisions. We are in production with major European manufacturers. • The interaction model is still an open problem. How does an engineer give an agent context, steer its work and understand what changed? How much should the agent figure out itself? And how does all of this fit into existing CAD and engineering workflows? • You will work directly with founders, engineers and customers to figure that out and turn it into a product people can actually use. • You are our first full-time product designer. We want someone with a point of view who can help shape the direction, not someone waiting for a finished brief. • WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON • You will work across discovery, interaction design and shipped product. We cannot say exactly what that looks like in month three, but these are the kinds of problems in front of us: • How engineers work with AI agents in 3D. Briefing, steering, reviewing and understanding agent work without turning the product into another complex engineering tool. • Connecting AI into real engineering workflows. Spend time with customers, understand how they actually work, test ideas early and turn what you learn into better product decisions. • Prototyping new interaction models. Sometimes that means Figma, sometimes a rough prototype in code, sometimes pairing directly with an engineer. Use whatever gets us to an answer fastest. • Driving product initiatives with founders and engineers. Help frame the problem, facilitate decisions and turn a direction into projects and tasks the team can execute. • Making the product coherent as it grows. Own interaction and visual quality, including the design system, without slowing down experimentation.
