FieldAI - Field Service Engineer
Requirements
• 2+ years of experience in technical field service, robotics, hardware support, industrial automation, or a related hands-on technical role. • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, including comfort working with tools, wiring, sensors, actuators, and robotic subsystems. • Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, assembly drawings, and service documentation. • Proficiency with Linux command line tools, SSH-based remote troubleshooting, and basic shell scripting. • Comfortable diagnosing issues across hardware, software, networking, and system configuration layers. • Strong communication and customer-facing skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly and professionally. • Ability and willingness to travel regularly, approximately 30–50%. • Comfortable working in industrial, warehouse, construction, or production environments. • Experience coordinating logistics, inventory movement, shipping/receiving, RMAs, or service parts workflows in a hardware, robotics, or field operations environment. • Experience with autonomous mobile robots, AMRs, industrial robotics, drones, or other autonomous systems. • Familiarity with ROS, Python, robotics middleware, or scripting for diagnostic and automation workflows. • Experience using tools such as Jira, remote monitoring dashboards, or fleet management systems. • Familiarity with safety practices and compliance requirements in production, construction, or industrial environments. • Experience supporting customer deployments from installation through ongoing production operations.
Responsibilities
• Bring up new robots upon receipt from OEMs or manufacturing partners, including initial configuration, quality checks, calibration, and software provisioning. • Monitor and maintain fleet health across deployed assets, ensuring robots are tracked, serviced, and maintained according to FieldAI standards. • Manage inbound and outbound logistics requests from internal teams, including robot shipments, spare parts, tools, and field-service equipment. • Coordinate with operations, engineering, deployment, and customer-facing teams to ensure equipment is prepared, packed, shipped, received, tracked, and documented accurately. • Diagnose, replace, and configure hardware components, including sensors, actuators, compute modules, batteries, wiring harnesses, and electromechanical subsystems. • Perform field diagnostics and root cause analysis to resolve hardware, software, networking, and system-level issues. • Travel to customer sites to lead robot installations, perform repairs, execute upgrades, calibrate systems, and support production deployments. • Maintain clear and structured service logs, diagnostic records, configuration changes, asset movements, shipment status, and field observations. • Partner with Field Application Engineers and engineering teams to deploy software updates, reproduce issues, escalate bugs, and share technical feedback from the field. • Support continuous improvement of service procedures, logistics workflows, technical manuals, troubleshooting guides, and internal documentation. • Operate safely and professionally in industrial, construction, and customer production environments.
