Responsibilities
• Maintain and extend service provisioning foundations: Keep Backstage-based service templating healthy for greenfield use cases. Contribute to our growing service catalog layer: a YAML-backed, AI-enriched registry exposed via REST API and MCP, designed to be queryable by both engineers and agentic systems • Build and scale agent golden paths: Evolve our agentic infrastructure from experiments to standard architecture. Treat AI agents as first-class platform users: defining deployment standards, and building the guardrails that let teams ship agents safely and consistently • Drive service mesh adoption: Lead the rollout and standardization of Istio across the fleet: covering mTLS, traffic shaping, and policy enforcement and build the golden paths and runbooks that make mesh adoption straightforward for product teams • Establish platform guardrails: Define scorecards/insights and CI policies (lint, contract checks, security baselines) that raise signals and make it easy for teams to get to “green” • Own core platform components: Design, build, and operate Kubernetes, IaC (e.g., Terraform), CI/CD pipelines, service templates, runtime addons, and shared libraries with SLOs and clear runbooks • Work closely with product teams: Partner with a rotating set of squads to co‑design golden paths, collect feedback, remove friction, and measure adoption and impact • Lead migrations and deprecations: Plan and execute multi‑repo changes (API versioning, SDK upgrades, framework/runtime bumps) with clear comms, docs, and safe rollout strategies • Measure what matters: Instrument developer experience and delivery metrics; use data to prioritize and iterate the platform roadmap
